Best moment is when George starts tuning during Joey’s solo😂

Back when people listened to music, instead of sitting there with everyone else in the audience, filming it and living their lives outside of the present they should be experiencing.

George Benson could always play. Often took a session like this for folks to realize how good he is . Hasten to add that Ron Eschete takes a back seat to no one. Two great guitarists ... no question.

OMG...... Ramon Banda?!??! I didn't know he played kit. He's one of the most ridiculously fantastic timbaleros, late of Poncho Sanchez' band. This smolders and scorches. Some of world's most talented players right in front o' yez.

IF this is Ron Eschete's channel.... I can't believe what a great stumble-upon this is! Ron, I loved your playing when I lived in Long Beach in late 70's. I was going to meet you eventually, my uncle Don Geraci was a jazz drummer and turned me on to your amazing-ness :) Orange County Rhythm Machine ring a bell? WOW...... 40 years later. Don had a small studio in town, supplementing my Electronic Music Production and Radio Production courses at Long Beach City College. WHOA.... just noticed the 2006 date on this gig :) Punctuality not my forte, obviously :)
@RonEschete-7StringGuitar7 жыл бұрын
Yes. I played with the band in the '70s. I remember Don, too, and his wife also used to come to my gigs. Also, I think Ramon Banda is the best timbales player in the world.

Okay so- 😂- here’s what happened with the guitar tuning- when George plugged in, he tuned the guitar to the root note of the song, F…that’s up a half step from normal guitar tuning. Consequently, when George then went to PLAY in F...it went from being an F blues, to an F# blues. Joey has perfect pitch, so he followed right away! Hilarious and amazing, and incredible playing by everyone!!!

For me George didn't tune the guitar perfectly ....and in a second tune ( "I'll drink to that ") the guitar was still slightly out . Perhaps bad strings or unprepared instrument ...HOWEVER ........even with a sauce pan those Greats can swing and play the craziest beauties .

+Paul Croteau You are so right. I will see if I can change, but it is also posted to Facebook. The original DVD listed the tune as Ah Leu Cha and I wasn't paying attention.

+Ron Escheté You should be able to edit the video details using from within KZfaq. You sound fantastic, one of my dreams is to play with Joey D. :-)
@RonEschete-7StringGuitar8 жыл бұрын
Yes, thank you. I edited the basic information for this video with the KZfaq video manager but it has the same URL so on Facebook it doesn't change in the posting. It has a lot of shares, likes, and comments so I'd rather not delete and start all over again to get a new URL. If someone on FB clicks on the KZfaq URL the corrected title is there.

Absolute proof that mistakes are irrelevant. George being a little out of tune and the trading fours being a little shakey at the end. This performance kicks ass, who needs a tight arranged band when you got guys that could do this. This drummer Ramon Banda practically slaps you in the face, he's such a bad-ass. Think I said enough.

Notice that Benson (almost) tunes up during Joey's solo... but it doesn't matter...after the first chorus of Benson's guitar solo... .he steals the show ....even playing a slightly out of tune guitar....! Takes a great player to do that!
