Good advice but what if we need to buy a new vehicle now because our old vehicle broke down? I'm in that situation now in Ft Worth Texas and looking for a new 2024 Toyota Corolla LE sedan. All the Toyota DFW dealerships are selling new Corollas for 3-4k over MSRP and refusing to bring the price down. Corollas are a low supply high demand vehicle so dealerships easily sell them for over MSRP. They have no need to discount a Corolla for me, should I just buy a Mazda 3 or Civic instead? I can buy both the 3 or the Civic for under MSRP

The sales guy told me he couldn't take a deposit because the car was going to be up for auction and the only way they would sell the car was with a $8k markup

Wait, $55k for a Toyota Land Cruiser doesn’t sound like a lot. A Land Cruiser in 2001 cost about the same, not couldn’t for inflation, so these are actually cheaper. How is this expensive for Toyota’s historically flagship SUV?

It will be since its based of the same TNGA body on frame as the Tacoma. So expect the same price hikes as the 2024 taco except more. 60K for base SR5's if your lucky. TRD pro's will probably start at 70K plus. They are not going to build this in Japan with the same 2.4 turbo hybrid system and charge less then the taco. Its going to have insane pricing. Just like all their new TNGA body on frames are. They did it with the Tundra, then with the taco, the LC and next the 4 runner.

@@islandhopper100 Read again what I said carefully "They are not going to build this in Japan with the same 2.4 turbo hybrid system and charge less then the taco." Not the best sentence structure but I did say they won't build the same platform truck for less money then the Taco which is made in Mexico. And yes I know they made the 4 runner along with the GX, landcrusier etc.. As they have done for decades. See what you did? You took the first part "they are not going to build this in Japan" and responded without reading the rest. If you were alert enough you would have seen my point that making TNGA platform trucks in Japan cost allot more then using slave labor in Mexico. No way a Japanese made truck is going to cost less then a Mexican made body on frame. I'm not fact checked because I already know these will come from the Tahara plant along with just about everybody else that knows anything about toyota.

Both the new 4Runner and Land Cruiser are striking in appearance. BUT, while a lot of casual consumers may buy both; they are, in essence, enthusiast vehicles. That being the case, enthusiasts are showing resistance to the new turbo or hybrid drive trains. They might be fine enough for the soccer moms, but do they have the long-term reliability that hard-core Toyota buyers value? It's still early, but initial impressions of the Tundra have been less than spectacular. It's quite possible Toyota has shot themselves in the foot. 😢

The 300 series LC was literally 90k before taxes and most people could not afford it. That was the whole point of introducing a smaller cheaper Land Cruiser to the states. I can afford this truck and I have no desire to own one. People get so mad about not being able to get a depreciating asset like a vehicle. I drive a 5 year old truck and I'm fine with it. Who wants a car payment right now anyway. I find most people complaining about the price of these vehicles are the same people asking for 4k off an LE Corolla. If you need discount on a $24,000 dollar car you can't afford new car. The only price I found ridiculous is the Tacoma prices. I could buy a pretty well equipped Tundra or base Land Cruiser for what they are charging for a loaded up Tacoma.

Part of the problem is that the last several years that Land Cruisers were available here in the USA they sold for $80,000-$90,000+ (LC's were sold loaded so this price variance is based on year not model level). So people that previously couldn't afford one are now excited to be able to get one for $55,000 - $77,000, depending on model because the price is a "bargain" compared to years past. So many people are asking who would pay that much for a Toyota! I bought my 2013 LC in December of 2014. It was used with 6,000 miles, and I paid $62,000 (10 years ago!). I still have that LC and could sell it today for $35k+. This is why people by Land Cruisers. Legendary off-road capability and huge retention of value.

Toyota keeps charging more and more for an inferior product. Their board is pushing them in the wrong direction instead of just letting Toyota do what it does best. Once it starts going higher than $70,000+ you’re better off getting a Lexus GX550, or for this price range, go even further and get the previous Gen 200-series Land Cruiser (J200) that was discontinued in 2021. It has the same 5.7 liter V8 engine as the previous gen Tundra and Sequoia which were proven to be reliable, and were sold for 13 years from 2008 to 2021. You could even find one from 2008 in the $20,000s, or for around the $70,000 that this new Land Cruiser (J250) is selling for, get a much newer J200 LC from 2016 and up (after its facelift and upgrades in 2016) and get a much better vehicle with a proven reliable power train for 13 years. To go even further, you could also get a Lexus GX460 (a Land Cruiser Prado) for around the same price or less, but still has a 4.6 liter V8 in it that’s been proven to be reliable for 14 years (2009-2023), and probably find newer ones in the $50,000-$60,000 range. As a side note, it’s important to realize this isn’t really a full-size Land Cruiser, but an LC Prado, which is what it actually is even though it’s not in the name. Last full size Land Cruiser was the previously mentioned J200 in the US, which stopped being sold in 2021. They did release the 300-series Land Cruiser (J300) overseas in the Middle East, Australia, Europe, Philippines, and other parts of the world but we did not get it in the US (possibly due to slow sales). The closest thing we got to the J300 in the US was the Lexus LX600 and currently it shares the same twin-turbo V6 engine as the current 3rd gen Tundras and Sequoias. I got to ride in an LC200 and LC300 on the sand dunes in the desert in Qatar on my way home from Asia and I absolutely loved them. It’s a sad thing we didn’t get a J300 in the US in Toyota form, but at least we got the LX600 which is the same platform. Anyways, don’t be fooled by this new Land Cruiser. Overseas where they sell the J300, this new J250 is being offered and sold as a Land Cruiser Prado (basically a smaller LC for city driving but still off-road capable and rugged), but here in the US since we don’t have the full size LC300, they’re just calling this new one a “Land Cruiser”, which in my opinion is misleading and easy to see considering the Lexus GX’s have always been modeled after the Prado, and one might think this new J250 is going to be more “affordable” compared to the previous J200 and new J300 overseas, when in reality both the LC250 and GX550 are just Prado’s without actually having it in the name. In my opinion, save your money and don’t buy these newer vehicles. Guarantee you there will be price clashes with the new 4Runner, Tacoma, and this new LC250 in the lineup. Dealerships are too greedy and want too much money for them, as seen with even the outgoing generations of 4Runners and Tacomas. $50k-$60k is unreasonable for a midsize truck or SUV, and even more for the TRD versions. They need to pull their heads out of the sand and see reality. If people didn’t support their shenanigans by buying these vehicles at their prices with the absurd markups and add-ons, we’d actually have a chance against dealerships and manufacturers. Or better yet, but a more affordable used vehicle of one of the previous generations and save your money for something else or a rainy day. No need to buy these new vehicles right away. Let Toyota work out the bugs and kinks and see if any discounts and incentives come along once dealers realize nobody wants to pay their absurd prices.

I have a question. I bought a Toyota Crown 2024 back in November 2023. The online price was about 39 500. I went there, they said it was 41 500. I showed them their own price and they said they will adjust it. Then I go inside to look into buying it and they said after everything the car will be 53 500. I was like WAIT WHAT LOL?! HOW? So, I asked them to give me a break down. At first they gave me some vague breakdown of 5 items that were saying fees. On the 5th time of me asking they brought an itemized list. I told them a bunch of things I didn't even want. They reduced it to 49 500 and still included said things because Toyota Service, alarm and many other things are simply included in the car already, so they can't remove them (like Toyota Service) or take them out (like the alarm). They even charged me for shipping it from Japan lol. My question is: I understand, of course, there would be fees for buying it from the Dealership but how much did they basically rip me off lol? I live in Nevada. Also, when I went for an oil change, one of the salesmen said that basically they sometimes lose money on some sales (like mine) but they still want the customers to be happy. I just dont understand how they lost money on me since I still paid a few thousand above the price they had listed?! Also, things like the Toyota Service plan are part of buying a new car but they charge for it?! When i told them I have insurance, so I won't need this roadside help, they said they will deduct it BUT THEN it was still included even though it got deducted lol?! None of this makes any sense 🤦‍♀️ I have never bought a new car before, so I tried to read about it as much as I could at the time but it still boggles my mind why the car can't just cost as much as it says on the price tag?!
