“Control language and you control thought; control thought and you control action; control action and you control the world.” -Peter Kreeft
If we understand the secret of language can we harness the almost ‘magical’ nature of words to influence our reality?
Most of us overlook how the spelling and sounds created by words might actually be manipulating how we think and act. Laurel Airica is one of those people who has recognized the immense power of language and has dedicated her life to upgrading the codex in order to enhance our collective existence.
She is a prolific poet, and it was an absolute delight to be in her presence during the show. Not only are the concepts explored on this podcast mind expanding and beautiful, you will never quite look at language the same again.

I’m taken aback by how refreshing it is to see this man engaged in a conversation with this wise, elder woman in a way that’s not only NOT condescending, but instead entirely engaged and filled with rapt interest. The nuance of the sheer kindness with which he speaks to her and listens to her ideas was more indicative of his character than anything else I’ve seen or read about him. So happy we have people like this out there, my god-I just love seeing people come together this way. Big fan of both of these people now. ❤ EDIT after 8 months of seeing random comments misinterpreting what I'm saying and NOT seeing the clarification in the comments below, lol - I absolutely believe this should be the norm and I also believe that for many, many people, it IS the norm. I am surrounded by wonderful men in my own life and I think we need to raise each other up whenever possible. This was never a put down for men- it was surprise at seeing real, good, healthy behaviors on KZfaq, of all places. What took me by surprise was seeing this level of rapt, sincere and kind interest from a celebrity, for lack of a better way to put it. Not that celebrity men aren't nice on camera to older women, but they don't usually have this level of heart that you can feel behind it. I watched this feeling warmed by seeing what I see in my daily life actually being reflected on the TV/computer screen. It's not too often that happens these days, and I love seeing it.

@@neferatum789 meh, you're taking what you intend to from my comment, and it's incorrect, but that's not surprising. It's *because* I have those people in my life that I know that those lovely men exist and that this is possible, which is why I'm bothering to comment on it. However, that doesn't mean that we ever get to see much of it represented in the media or on TV in general, hence why I stopped to commend it. Don't look for negativity where there is none- there's plenty out there that actually exists.

@@meganelder5675 don't be pedantic. Obviously his comment was on point and based very much of the verifiable cultural Zeitgeist of this mentally unwell " liberated" era. But more to point its okay to make a minor error when expressing oneself. But why then compound it with a silly, rambling, projecting, patronising, denial based on your own bruised ego or fragile pride and little else...

A few years back I got these downloads on spells and spelling. Named backwards is deman. We say “we are in pain” like we are trapped inside of it when it was meant to be like looking through a pane, or an experience which changes the understanding entirely. We can’t say we are whole, without also saying we are hole. And on and on. The weirdest part was when I googled what ancient people were called who knew about these spells, and what popped up was; Spellman. Surprise…That was my grandmothers family name. May be because I was born on the week of the system builders, and the day of language, but I have been thinking in colors and feelings lately instead of thinking in words. These are the languages of the universe that humans hold. It is too convoluted to try and be aware of every spell. The best way to free ourselves is to stop using this tool for entrapment. For me, it’s been freeing as I begin to stop thinking in words. Just wanted to share with others that we don’t need to use language to think. It is possible ❤️ As I wrote this, the queen just died. No bigger symbol of perpetrated spells world wide in the English language than the crown.

As a native German speaker who also spent 27 year living and breathing the language of the French people, I couldn't agree more with the perspective you are offering. One of my greatest thrills is to look up the etymology of the words that pop up in my mind, and to marvel at their journey. I feel very much connected to the # time periods in which they evolved, and the people. But what's more is that as a foreigner with three languages as a background, I somehow often find myself seeing meaning in words where the native speakers don't and can come up with a unique concept of word play. Which I believe many stand-up comedians also do, being rich of several cultural backgrounds. Aaaanyway, I totally dig this talk, it truly reflects a part of my being that is rarely shared or understood, as most people I'm surrounded by (so far...) aren't so affine with language. Merci, Danke, thanks 🦋🙏

I have a very similar experience as a native english speaker learning and hearing German. Somehow the language seems to also bring about a certain spiritual zeitgeist that stays with the collective conscious and subconscious way of approaching the world that reverberates and stays within the culture of the language speakers themselves. It's so interesting to note.

My son and I and a lot of our friends and neighbors also did not get the clot shot ... I wish everybody would watch the documentary here on the tube called ANECDOTAL wherein doctors and researchers talk about how they were censored mostly on social media from talking about its dangers . It shows a couple people going into such horrendous convulsions shortly after getting that shot that they look more like something from a horror movie . Other people even grown men crying about their loved ones for example a teenage girl dying from it and it quickly flashes a photo of her in her open coffin .

If more of us spoke from the heart than the ego or mind we could accomplish and access so much. It is profound to even think about. I used to write poetry as a young girl. Even was published. I just watched this and it is one of the most high calibrating and joyful conversations I’ve ever heard. I love that you spoke about channeling poetry. I’ve been as well for years now. To properly thank you both, this is what came through me after I sat with your podcast. It is my thank you note. It wanted to be called Air-Ica, for the definition of “ica” “cloaks us in loveliness from poles to equator.” It seems appropriate here. ❤️🙏🏻 Air-Ica A respite comes from all the anguish, To find the ones who speak my language, A soft and airy confirmation, Escaping from the lonely tension, A soul adrift in Sacred sense, No place to land, safe and dense, To catch my breath, to b r e a t h e, To embrace in fullness, an “indeed!” Belongingness from pole to pole, Beautiful essence to fully unfold, A lofty crop to tend with love, To merge complete beyond tenuous love, Inculcated here in Sacred mist, By my very soul I have been kissed, Like Cinderella awake once more, To love and feel as never before, The value true of this endeavor, Was never fancy or simply clever, Inspiring truths so high above, I receive them as the purest love, And like a shadow built of Light, Embodied I am given flight, Belongingness returned to me, I feel a peaceful sovereignty, Embracing my Divinity, You’ve cleared a space for Eye to see, Words as miracles, I agree! To speak in tongues of Syllable, Enlivening my own free will, My heart vibrates in re-cognizing, Their power so healing and synthesizing. Om

I'm not a native English speaker - born in Switzerland, German part and now living in Thailand - and in the community here we often generate "new" words or use several languages in the same sentence as we find it descriptive in a more accurate way. ......... Beside that, I have found in my experiences with languages that the understanding or general use of specific words have gone through many changes. Very descriptive of the times they were "altered". .... and yes, such has happened with many languages or maybe even all ... Another aspect of this is of course also the "reflecting / mirroring" aspects of language not only to the outside - it's more importantly, in my opinion, also what words and thoughts do to our very own inner environment.
