I remember being a kid watching this game it didn’t feel like a traditional National championship cause of the teams that played and if I can remember the game was over quick but I do remember it going down literally to that last play which was the winning field goal.

The oregon O-line messed up so many blocking assignments, it’s a miracle didn’t get blown out. I also don’t understand why they try to run straight up the middle after Auburn turn the ball over on downs 1 foot away from the goal line. You should know they are going to bring pressure up the middle.

Well it was yet again another national championship that didn’t feature the best teams in the country.... 1. TCU was 25-0 back to back undefeated seasons - 3 Top 25 wins including a 40 point road win over #6 Utah - back to back #1 defenses in the country (Oregon was #38 and Auburn was #59) - Also ranked #9 in total offense - featured 12 future NFL draft picks 2. Boise State - Absolutely destroyed Oregon in back to back seasons - 3 Top 25 wins including a win over the ACC champion - Ranked #2 in total Offense and total defense (in fact had just 114 less yards than Oregon) - Had statistically the most efficient and highest rated QB in the country - Was two missed FGs away from going undefeated in three consecutive seasons - Despite not even making a major bowl game, was ranked #1 in the country after the championship by SRS, FPI, SP+ and Colley How Oregon made it over these teams was a crime...

That play meatball made (#12 Auburn Safety) on that long pass play that was suppose to be a touchdown, but the Hussle play by him helped the defense make a stop from first and goal but Oregon settled for 3 points.. That is a very underrated Hussle play that really changed the outcome of this game.

@@dillondank5662To be fair to OSU they played the toughest teams in the league in 2010 and it’s not even close….. Oregon State played both TCU and Boise State on top of playing Oregon. That’s playing 3 teams that went 28-2…. That’s also playing the #1, #2, and #4 best offensive teams and playing the #1 and #2 best defensive teams. Granted they did get smoked 54-114, but still

They hit too hard in the NFL. And they are smarter and faster than in college. Thats why guys like Vince Young and Cam Newton do great at college level, but don't dominate the same. Also, they rack up more injuries and hits to it isn't something they are used to dealing with so they never come up with strats against it when they are younger. Usually leads to burnout where coaches realize they are one dimensional threats with no other skills good enough to work in the NFL. Russell Wilson stayed healthy for as long as he is because he developed his passing game and handoffs to where he has more complete skills that make him a real dual threat.
