I don't agree. This is a better finish. The iron bowl would have just gone to overtime if Lewis hadn't run the kick back. This one was an all or nothing out-of-nowhere play. The Kick-Six is overrated compared to this.

My mom learned the rules and calls on football so that she could spend time with me watching football. She was unconscious in hospice when this game was played. I watched the game by her bedside. The nurse came in right before this play to check on her. I told her to hold on that we were watching the game. When this play happened, I swear that she smiled a little. A couple of weeks later I was watching the Kick Six Iron Bowl in the funeral home. These two games helped me get through a tough time. WDE Mom!

Not talked about enough is the brilliant heads up play by Lewis. He never attempts an initial jump on the ball because he’s just a hair late & baits the two DBs off their feet to deflect because what else can you expect besides the WR making a jump? Lewis gets behind both of them in position for a tip, and just so happens to be capitalize on the luckiest (and dumbest) deflection. There’s a minuscule chance that throw ever converts, and it only does when Lewis is where he is. He made just about the only play that results in Auburn winning the football game. Truly remarkable. I like to believe it was somewhat calculated, albeit risky on the surface (not attempting a catch is a bad look).

I'll never forget this day as an alum. I was at a casino in Lake Charles playing Texas Holdem. Auburn got a big lead and I could see the TV really well from my seat at the poker table. So I was kind of watching the game and kind of focusing on poker at the same time. I was winning big...I actually flopped a straight flush, got plenty of action, and won a huge pot, so I started to lose focus on the AU game. Later on, I look up and UGA is back in the game and takes the lead late. However, I was still very confident because Auburn's offense had played great all year, and all they needed was a FG. But when it was 4th and seventeen, I really did lose hope. I knew Nick Marshall was not really an accurate passer...he was a great runner and very smart, but kind of hit or miss on precision throws. So when he threw the winning pass and it was in the air l, I was like, what are you doing? You could see 88 running wide open around midfield, and there were 3 guys covering Louis. But nevertheless, the ball somehow bounced into his hands. I literally screamed, and everyone at the poker table turned to look at me. I'll never forget the face of the lady sitting across from me, she literally recoiled as I basically yelled into her face. I felt terrible and was apologetic, but I had to get up. It was a very lucky play. One of the best in Auburn history. And to think it would be outdone the very next week.
