Auckland City's Eastern Bays Vlog - Mission Bay, St Heliers, Kohimarama | New Zealand

2 жыл бұрынThe Eastern Bays of Auckland city offer very picturesque and scenic views of the Waitemata Harbour and Rangitoto. You'll find popular sandy beaches along Tamaki Drive like Mission Bay and Kohi Beach which are awesome because they're close to the city centre but far away enough to feel like a beach holiday.
For lunch we grabbed ourselves some classic fish & chips from the local takeaway shop and took them over to Kohimarama Beach to enjoy.

Parking is kinda limited around Dingle Dell Reserve but we parked along Dingle Road near one of the entrances. It's only about a 5 minute drive from Kohi Beach. Don't forget your insect repellant like we did though and have fun trying to find the little fairy houses.
Less than a 10 minute drive away up at Bastion Point is Michael Joseph Savage Memorial Park. There you'll find a peaceful garden and lovely views of the harbour and Auckland's skyline.

Right down the road is Mission Bay, where we got our New Zealand Natural frozen yoghurt to take to the highly popular Mission Bay beach to enjoy.

Fyi, we have since bought a new mic 😁🙌 and we've decided to live with the car rattle for now 😅 Some days it doesn't even make a peep! Technology ay? 🤣

A random guess but that rattling sounds like it's the vent fan bumping against something or maybe the fan motor?

A couple of people have said it's likely the blade door actuator but it's been quite for awhile now so we've just left it for the time being 😅 also the new mic is a sennheiser mke 400 and yep we got a deadcat for it too 🙂👍 can't not have one for those windy days!

We still can hear what you’re saying, don’t worry, the video turned out great 👍🏻 Fish and chips looks so yummy 🤤 Great to have it by the beach 👌🏻 Those little fairy houses are so cute! Wondering how and why did people start to leave those houses there 🤔 Omg New Zealand’s Natural ice cream shop, it’s been a while! There are only a few remaining ones we can spot here in Melbourne, Aus. So classic! 😍

Love that relaxing and beautiful intro walking on the water. Not sure what you were going to eat but fish and chips is always a great choice! Yum yum! That is so cute to see the little dinosaur's houses along the reserve. Oh no, we both have the same issue with bites. Bring those for your Turkey stay, spring and summer are when they come out hungrier than ever Nice that you went back to where you recorded one of your first videos. That is so cool. It is frozen yogurt time!

Hahahaha that's one of the few rare ice creams I've had since our catch up. The other one was at the waihi lavendar farm. The warm weather and the beach ⛱️ made me think just this one time 😂

Dingle Dell reserve (pre covid) hosted Opera in the park during summer. As we live almost beside it, from our house we could hear the beautiful voices. Hopefully those wonderful voices can grace the outdoor parks once more in the near future.

I lived in Kohi and Mellon's Bay for 12 years and kept my yacht at Half Moon Bay and sailed the harbour and up to the Bay of Islands nearly every weekend. Lovely place.

Btw camera's mic is pretty good!! Just the wind since you were in the beach but not so bad. Damn seagull always eyeing for food 🤭

It's ok but the slightest turn with wind and it's so loud 😅😅 we had to use noise reduction effects in premiere to reduce a lot of it but it's so bad couldn't get rid of most of it 😅

Hahahaha we were hoping that prosciutto would solve it too. We've ignored it and so far it's not come back 😂 though we don't think that's a good long term decision. Eaastern suburbs is always nice for a day or evening out 😁

Yeah I believe that fish and chip shop is well-known! Yeah meal looks SO good! Yeah we could still hear you fine, but I bet you'll be excited to upload the next video with the new mic! That rattle would drive me crazy! I'd be hounding the mechanic shop until they find it, for fear of losing my sanity. It definitely sounds like a ventilation thing, but a bit deeper in the circuit, where the fan motor spins.

A really great video, Thank you for sharing with us all Peter and Yen :) hmmm must have doctored that weather.... Every single time I have gone to Auckland it has been wet and cold, I dont recall ever striking it nice.... sigh..... Yen, I react to Mossie bites pretty badly. Normal antihistamine creams do nothing to help... One though I have found to be very effective and good at stopping the extreme itch is Anthisan but, I will go and check out your one as well :).... Gotta love Fish and Chips.....Out of all the fast foods I still feel they are the cheapest and best :) Bluff Oysters yummy. Car rattles dont you just love them..... Thank you for all your videos keep safe and well up in the big smoke :)

Hahaha it can be temperamental with the weather here at times, you'll have to stay for longer next time for the nice stretches! 😉👍 Ohh I use to use anthisan too! But was happy to find Asian supermarkets like Taiping sell mopiko here coz it's such a quick relief from itches 😂😂 Peter even when he gets bitten it disappears quickly for him.. so lucky.. mine are just terrible 😅 if you manage to get your hands on mopiko I hope it helps you too! Fyi it's a strong menthol (?) kind of smell but I don't mind it at all 🙂 it's the smell of relief to me 😂😂😂

@@PeterandYen I will certainly look for it Yen :) I dont care about the smell just as long as it works. Sandflies can bite me no issue, just an inconvenience. But, mossies... the whole area around the bite swells up and the itching progresses way beyond itching into seriously intense pain. Those who also suffer will know what I mean... it is very hard to describe the pain unless experienced it yourself. I never used to react... must be all part of getting older and ancient I guess hehe. Oh, I have stayed up there for a while at times as in several weeks at a time. You both have a really awesome weekend, have fun and keep safe :).

It sounds like something is interfering with your fan in the aircon it may have sucked some kind of leaf or something. Trouble is you may need to dismantle some of your interior to find it. Your best bet is to ask uncle google

That's so cute that your daughter was excited to see the houses 😂 Mission bay is kinda crazy cause I've been kayaking there in winter when it was freezing and somehow ended up falling in the water. Thought it would be freezing but it was really warm 😯

Rangitoto is an iconic dormant volcano in that harbour 🙂 Auckland itself has over 50 volcanoes but majority are extinct (thank goodness) 😅

I am hearing you guys just fine. Since we started our big lap Australia, I have been eating alot of fish and chips. There's a shop in South Australia has shark meat and we tried, it's doesn't taste like the usual fish you eat. Our car has on amd off issue too, what worse was when we took it to the dealer for maintenance the issue disappeared. Couple days later it appeared again 🤦♀️

That rattle aye . . might be something small touching the fan blade .Have you tried the vacuum cleaner ? My wife is Filipino and the mozzies love her .. we use tiger balm . I reckon your plan B was spot on - NZ has the Best fish n chips ☺️

Yeah ACC recently published new property valuations and with that expected rate increase so now my bro out at Kohi has to pay about $6.5K pa for his typical size section! Maybe smarter to buy over at 'cheaper' Glen Innes but still close to the bays to take advantage? How have you coped financially maintaining your independent lifestyle over the past 2+ years? I'm sure you're the envy of many here who wish to follow your footsteps!

Being able to maintain the lifestyle is always at the top of my mind and so a lot of our investing decisions require us to anticipate potential economic scenarios to make sure we can sustain the amount of passive income needed for our lifestyles. It's been quite the balancing act thanks to the pandemic but so far so good. Though there were certainly a few set backs along the way.

I ride a bike only in Miami detest cars. Whats the electronic bike sceene like in Auckland and also the electric scooter sceene. I've eaten fish almost every day for the last 90 days. And I feel pretty good.

I have done both and travelled widely in NZ. They are quite different - depends what you are looking for. The Bay of Islands is just as beautiful as the top half of the Mainland (South Island) but for different reasons. So is Fiordland Vs the Bay of Plenty - different again. Try and do both if you can!

Aye yaaaa the double edged sword that is technology… when it works makes life so much easier…when it glitches makes you 😩😤😡🤬😭… Audio was fine so no worries guys. You guys should have dubbed it after like a bad kung fu movie 😁. Fairy houses were really cool, but I don’t think I can visit them… the urge to pretend I’m Godzilla would be too overwhelming 😆. 😂 o man had a drama with our new mic too.. went with a deity pro and it didn't pair with our fujifilm... 3 days later working with the sales people we ended up with a senheisser so far so good 👍 Cases are pretty high at the moment but I think that's like these days need to just adapt to the conditions now.
