Actively working on 2 in worse condition than this, you can get all of the patch panels for very inexpensive. Floor pans are $40 each, cab mounts are $26, bed corner and cab corners are $25 each, 16x48 bed patches are $40 plus 20 shipping, and door bottoms are $16. The entire rad support up front can be bought online for $300 but I got one for $100 in good shape in person. This one is 100% saveable, the worst you will see is major pitting around the cab mounts or the leaf spring shackles have rotted off, which they also make replacements for and things called "cab mount frame savers", which are circular patches that are the thickness of the frame and already have the hole cut out for the mounts. The actual main part of the frame on these usually doesn't rot, it's a "c channel" frame that does not hold salt, debris, or water and is part of the suspension, it is actually meant to flex.

@@evanpelkey7864 ive seen dodges and chevys do it around where i live. Old vans and new fords seem to do alright. Hell my grandmothers 2014 F150 XLT is still going strong and hasnt rusted much at all. And we live out in the woods in a really humid area because we have a lake. That truck only gets out like max 3 times a day for maybe an hour or two. Little bit of rust on the frame but thats it. Ive seen other vehicles here that sit for less time rust out bad. Hell the ford isnt even well maintained idk how its still going. Doesnt get washed, maybe gets serviced like once every 3 years. But the kicker is, there are old cars here in arkansas that have sat under a tree for 20 or 30 years with no shelter and arent rusted out somehow. But its also arkansas so 🤷‍♂️

I have a 76F100 I live in Kentucky. It's My daily driver. This typical spots on a dent side. As far as the bed. What usually happens is when a truck sits in turns into a catch all for trash, limbs, leafs and junk. I've even seen parked with a load of dirt! This truck is actually in very, very good condition. Nothing that can't be patched.

That's a typical Tuesday 😄, that truck will be saved, patch up or replace the bed and floor pans and your good. A lot of people would love to restore that truck especially being specced like it is and shortbed!

I just bought a 1965 F-250 camper special with a 4 speed and a 429. The truck is straight as an arrow and not a spot of rust on it. Got it for $2,500 from an old man that quit driving last year because he couldn't drive it without power steering. It also a 2 owner truck.

That looks like my old ranger which was considered by us to have moderate rust its honestly not too bad. Threw a new bed on it and welded a plate into the floor over and hole, pretty nice.

I don’t live in a rust belt but honestly, without looking underneath or under the hood, that’s a decently solid truck compared to others I’ve seen bc I can just easily buy a new bed and patch the whole in the floor

Lol, this is cleaner than my 06. And yes, being able to see through the floor is pretty common. Floor pans and body panels are easy to repair or replace.

My grandfather bought one with 30k miles with only surface rust, was only used to carry a boat to and from a lake. He past and we're currently trying to get it running.

It's straight and not too mickey moused. With lots of steel panels available for these, that's very savable.

I had a jeep that had a huge hole drivers side floor board. I just pulled up the carpet and insulation, wet some fiberglass and layed it over. put a couple layers down, hard as a rock when done and then sprayed the bottom with underbody rubber spray stuff. lasted forever.

Recently moved from the UK to Canada, been working in the school auto shop... I was absolutely abhorred by the amount of cars less than a decade old that had accumulated rust that I'd expect to see on a 30 year old beater!! I was told by my teacher that this is completely normal. Terrifying stuff.

My first car was almost a 71 ranger (I think it was a 71) i saw it everyday in my neighbors back yard. One day I asked him about it when I was 16 and he said I can look at it and it’s mine for 500$. I grabbed my mechanic grandpa just for him to show me how it’s unsalvageable due to how long it sat covered in Michigan salt. The outside looked mint besides the tires. I was devastated
