This Audacity tutorial shows how to easily add vocal effects to a voice recording using Audacity to make your singing track sound more full and bigger.

Making your voice track sound thicker is very easy. A common practice is to double up the track. To do this you need to sing your vocal part in twice. Make sure that you sing exactly the same thing both times.
Once you have 2 tracks recorded select the second track and go EDIT - DUPLICATE. Now you will have 3 tracks: The first one you sang (track 1) and 2 copies of the second one you sang (tracks 2 and 3). Next PAN or balance track 2 all the way to the left and track 3 all the way to the right.
Last step will need the TIME SHIFT TOOL in Audacity. Using the time shift tool move track 2 very slightly to the left and track 3 very slightly to the right. You may want to play with the amount of time shifting you do and using the zoom tool helps.
Play it back and it will sound amazing :)
Rock on,
Andrew

Hey Calikal, Under Preferences - recording, you will see some settings for your buffer and latency correction. Play with these numbers to fix your problem. Also, when you do have some lag due to latency you can move your tracks around to fix it with the time shift tool. There is a tutorial on the time shift tool in my Video Guide to Audacity. You can get it on my site MakeAndBreakEducation (link in the video description). Cheers, Andrew

Hi ThePrinceFrank. Could the problem be with background noise? If you have a little noise in one track, then layer in a second noisy track and a third you have 3 times the noise. Could this be the problem? If so you need to create a VERY quiet environment for recording. Let me know? Check out my site MakeAndBreakEducation for more Audacity tutorials (link in the video desciption). Andrew

I figured it out. There was some noise in the background but that wasn't the main issue. Apparently when you increase the volume of individual tracks it causes the audio to distort. I have solved this by balancing tracks by making others quieter instead of making the one I want louder. I appreciate your help none the less.
