As a petrolhead, I would always pick a wagon (or estate as I'd like to call it) because the car is much lower down, handling, and perhaps performance as well, will always be better. I actually ask that question the other way around: what are the reasons to buy an SUV over an estate? SUV owners will say it's the 4WD. But most SUV people buy nowadays are actually SUV-lookalikes, as they have 2WD. Also, with 4WD you're not really doing some off-roading are you? Oh, and obviously there are 4WD versions of estates too.

I do! I hate it when I get on a car and there's no DAB radio, which means I'll have to tune it and find channels sequentially. Also there are many channels that are DAB only. And sound quality is much better on digital. Why not bring your own music to the car? Well, sometimes I'd like to listen to non-music stuff, and sometimes I'd like the radio host to choose the music for me.

what's even the point of it? It's the same as FM as you have a select few that are national and the rest are just regional, the only difference is you get some different stations in the regions

Don't you guys get the Audi RS6 or E63 Avant?

In the US the only current full-size wagon (estate) is the E Class. We don't get the C. We do get the 3 sportwagon from BMW, but not the 5. We don't get The A6 Avant, nor even the A4 avant, just the A4 Allroad. We haven't had the Volvo V70 for years, just the XC70. (You see where this is going?) We don't get the Mazda 6 estate nor the Ford Fusion (Mondeo) Estate, both of which look like nice cars. Wagons have fallen in popularity here, but there is now the recent V60 from Volvo, and we're to get the V90. On the plus side, for those who like a wagon, you don't have to look like everyone else in an SUV (and of course you can enjoy better handling.) On the downside, you may not find just what you want.

If you look at the presenters, that is probably why. They can all go where they desire because Carbuyer was never about good looking people reviewing cars and it never will be.

quality of driving is actually better in the wagon, and they are more confortable because suv have to mount stiffer sunspections to reduce bodyroll. economy is better because they are lighter and have better aerodynamic resistance. but you know... the haert wants what the haert wants . sorry for the horrible spelling but the autocorrect is trying to translate everything in my mother toungue

Better handling, better fuel economy, more space, more aerodynamic. SUV is for high driving position, ground clearance. If in doubt always get a wagon
