Definitely the best method to remove the button. Good work.

To remove the switch itself, push the centre button in hard, then turn it clockwise one step, it will then pop out. Id leave the outer fascia ring on & use it to support the buttons shaft, while holding the button itself, after i have turned it to make it pop out enough for the hacksaw blade. The Hacksaw blade is a great idea, i used a thin grinding disc on mine.

Thanks, worked great. Make sure to hold the button while using the saw or dremel, or it will rotate back inwards, which can be annoying.

Very good video on doing this fix.The only difference is to cut the knob itself I used a Dremel tool and it was couple minutes later I had the switch back in the Audi..I purchased my knob repair kit on ebay for total of $4.94 USA free shipping and within three days it was at my location.

Olá Tenho um Seat Ibiza 2005. O comutador onde encaixa o conjunto que sai, a moldura é mais arredondada, é um pouco diferente dessa. Gostaria de saber se posso trocar por um com automático, ou seja com sensor crepuscular? Será possível? Desde já agradecido

To replace my switch knob and cover took right at 5 mins tops, and cost only $4.94 including free shipping on ebay.

Sure, they're only 15 "bugs" ...if you are okay with a cheap Chinese knock-off. The ones I've seen are definitely lower quality, inside and out, including the red of the LED not even matching the shade of red in the rest of the car. That's even more bothersome than a scratched switch! Actual OEM replacements cost >$50. These replacement covers cost well under $10 (err...bugs), are easy to change, and allow one to keep the still-working factory switch.
