It could be the crank sensor but also I’m thinking you had dirty injectors and or bad coils . I would check the coils , injectors and the crank sensor . Plan on doing a big job on it not just scratching the surface . What year is it and what engine ?

Check it with a OBDI, even a real cheap one. It will bring up the specific P# code for Crank sensor. My B6 one went bad suddenly & my cheap OBD1 told me that too. It worked ok under 50°C but went bad over that. Engine light stayed on once it was triggered, only drove it twice when it went bad anyway. Cheap easy fix.

Same problem just happened to my q5 , your car jus like like mine was consuming oil more and more till it stopped running :solution : engine tear down , piston ring job must be done or engine replaced

No they said at Audi that it jumped timeing, but now my chk. Eng. Light just came back on but the car works good

That is not the first thing I would check and I’m not sure it will cause same problem, simply I haven’t seen that happen

I had a code for camshaft position sensor, no start issue. Replaced it and no longer have the code visible but still no start.

What’s the Efi relay ?

Fuel pump relay ? 70 amp?

It's a common problem that the seal breaks or gets missalligned on the ECM box and water gets into the box which will kill the two relays under the computer. I had this problem and had to swap relays multiple times because of water kept getting into the box, sealing the box properly is not the easiest so I suggest finding a new lid with seal. Eventually i had to swap out my ECM as it was water damaged.

I don’t really remember but the code sent me directly to the crank sensor , Try to put a new crank sensor to see if the problem is gonna go away . Also see if the rubber tube coming out of turbo if open or cut , if it’s open the car will crank but won’t start
