The Audi A6 Allroad Quattro takes the latest-generation Audi A6 Avant and gives it the off-road treatment. A 15mm increase in ride height allows greater approach and departure angles, while wheel arch cladding distinguishes it visually from the Audi A6 Avant on which it's based. There's adjustable air suspension standard across the range as well as specially tuned ESP and underbody armour. There are three diesels and one petrol variant, starting with the 201bhp 3.0-litre diesel, a 242bhp 3.0-litre diesel (expected to make up 86 per cent of sales) and a 306bhp 3.0-litre turbocharged petrol. All of these engines are mated to a seven-speed S tronic transmission. The most potent of the range is the 309bhp 3.0-litre BiTDI twin-turbo V6 diesel and it's the only motor to use the new eight-speed transmission.

I hadn´t noticed before. Do license plates in the UK have to carry the make and model of the car? Can´t quite see it but seems so, in that smallish lettering at 0:52, between the number 2 and "press Office".

These higher end Audis have always been very attractive and enjoyable to drive etc but they are desperately complex and not especially reliable (electrical systems) after a few years which makes them very tricky and rather expensive to hang on to once they've got a few miles/kilometres under the bonnet. However I guess you'd know that when choosing such a vehicle.

Alright, here's a comment on the car for a change. It's just an A6 with a little more ground clearance and a bigger price tag. Yes, it looks sexy and is more desirable than the standard model, but mainly because of some design tweaks which makes it look bulkier. It's no more practical than a regular A6 really, and you're better off with a Q5 for light offroading, while both are cheaper (well, less expensive) options. That said... I still want one.

Awesome car, my dad had older model of these fantastic car for winter snow/mud country lanes no issue, otherwise the ride quality is limo standard

My neighbour has one of these. Only real use of it is when you park at tight spots and don't have to worry about damage from bumping other cars.

I've been watching Mat's reviews since always and i always appreciated his good language, overall culture and behaviour. This practical and free-like tests from just normal owner seat. But now it's likely lost because he's not reviewing so often and shares it with Rebecca. I like her reviews but that's not the same. I've got small feeling that she wants to be mat-like and isn't showing something more individual as another reviewer should in my opinion.

The XC70 lands right between the A4 and A6 Allroads for length and width, and is a tad taller. It's not "as" lux as the Audi, but it can be had at a pretty high level of spec. Also, the Volvo seats can't be topped for comfort. I'd prefer the wagon version of any of them, but - in the US we have only the A4 Allroad and the XC70. no Avants any more, and no v70. If you want a true high end wagon you're left with BMW 3 or 5 touring, or an E-series, OR a Cadillac.

I don't do 'off-roading' by intent, but living, as we do, in Cambridgeshire, where the roads are a byword in their appalling levels of conditions, a car like this is not a luxury, but a must-have. Only the air suspension set up in our E Class estate can cope with them, but our weekend car, an AMG SLK, feels like riding a church pew down a set of widely-spaced stone steps, and is nowhere near as much fun as even that suggests. So I guess that this might be our next car, much as it pains me to admit, with the E Class All-terrain weighing it at around ten k more for a similar model, there really is no option....

It doesn't say the make and model, it says AUDI UK, and the post code. All UK number plates do have to have the postcode of the number plate supplier on them.

A far more better review than the last Audi review because Rebecca is much more objective. Now put a bit more personality in your reviews without loosing the facts. Chris Harris is pretty good at doing this.

I love Volvo but comparing the xc with theballroad model on diet roads and you will see that the 4wd system of Audi works way better. I got stuck with an Volvo xc and than same track with an Audi and 4wd not at all.

Don't forget that without audi's rally cars subaru wouldn't exist(well atleast 4 wheel drive versions) don't get me wrong im a big subaru fan but the audi's interior is a whole lot better than the subaru's and the subaru's engines can sometimes be rough however i do agree with your statement:)

I think overall the Volvo XC70 is better value. The Audi A6 Allroad has a base price of £43,150 thats before, you start to look at the option list...However the Volvo, has a base price of £36,820. Even with every single available option ( Auto trans, met paint, sunroof, front/rear heated seats, digital radio, keyless go, load compensating suspension, the lot..) the price of the Volvo is pushed up to £48,765. You buy the Audi for the badge. Don't get me wrong, the Audi is still a really nice car.

I had a Volvo an an Audi and I will never agree with anyone who tells me an Audi has better built quality or a more comfortable interior, the only thing Audi has over Volvo is a more sporty uncomfortable driving and more nerdy gadgets, but what I paid for Audi's spares makes me a Volvo Driver even more

Great car, I just hate those wood/carey trim insertions... I hate wood or carey in a car interior, no matter what car it is. I would change it for brushed metal, carbon fiber or carbon slates trim insertions.
