I had an RS2 in 1996 and I regret so much trading it for an E46 M3 convertible! What a mistake...

I miss my RS2. It was so quick on the Autobahn and so easy to tune. I payed like 12000 DM at this time for it (which was about 6000 Euros converted). Was really stupid to sell it just for starting a new project with a Golf TDI (which i tuned also like hell). Today i could smash my head on the desk for it.

You will talk even about the v10 RS6. What can be cooler than an avant with a Lamborghini engine?

Got both RS6, (the latest and the V10 one) at home. I have to say the V10 is the "better" RS in my opinion. It feels more special, is Faster at Speeds above 200km/h and the looks of it are just on point. It never felt outdated in terms of engine, transmission or all wheel drive system. And the brakes (420 mm Ceramics) are even more sharp then the Ceramics on the V8 one. Really sad they didnt continue to developp the V10. Would be a great car with a full aluminium V10 (same Components as in the rs3 nowdays) and around 700 hp with a good 8 Speed Gearbox. Well maybe we got the opportunity one day that audi will bring it back.

Except it was never a Lambo engine, yes it was used in the Gallardo, but that wasn't until the LP560(The OG Gallardo used a V10 designed by Lambo themselves, though derrived from a Audi V8).

Yeah, but lets be honest, after you buy the RS6 you will tell everybody anyway that your Audi has a Lamborghini engine ;-)

NZ was one of the few countries that got the RHD model of the RS2 in limited number, even rarer was the RHD S2 sedan. I missed out on one back in the 2000's, went for peanuts compared to todays value. After I sold my saph Cosworth i had to have one of the Audis with the famous 20vt 5 pot. Thankfully I managed to snap up a Audi 100 S4 Avant 6spd manual (URS4). So happy to have got one, it now shares my drive with a manual 850 T5 Volvo. Yeah im a fan of the warble ;)

The RS2 Avant was the very first Audi with a "RS" badge, yes. But it was not the very first performance station wagon! Audi 100 Avant Quattro 20V, Audi 100 Avant S4, Audi Avant S6, Audi Avant S6 'Plus'. And the RS2 wasn't built in a wagon version only. They've also built a handful of RS2 Limousine; and even at least 2 RS2 Coupes. But the Limousine and Coupe were never available officially; built for the Audi and Porsche staff only. And it wasn't only Audi with performance station wagons in the late 1980s / early 1999s. Forgotten the very first BMW M5 Touring? Volvo 850 TR-5? But even long before these wagons, there were a bunch of special built wagons: The AMG 500 TE (W123). Later came the AMG 6.0 TE (W124). But that while "performance station wagon" thing has started with the company Artz. The german Mister Artz was the owner of a VAG dealership in Hannover (capital of Lower Saxony in Germany), and he was a very creative dude. He built the famous Porsche 914-6 with a Beetle 1303 body. And the Artz Golf, a VW Rabbit based on a Porsche 928. And the Sciwago, a VW Scirocco with a Station Wagon rear end. And an Opel Kadett GSi with a Corvette C4 chassis and engine. In 1979 to 1982 the creative Mister Artz has built an Audi 100 with the station wagon rear end from a VW Passat, and the whole technique from an Audi Ur-Quattro. And THAT was the very first true powerfull station wagon ever built!

I find the carfection videos good but they would be amazing if you could just show some shots with epic engine and exhaust sounds. The narrative is nonstop. Just stop talking for a minute and let us enjoy what it is about. Then Carfection would really be reaching its full potential!

at this point RS2 is a collector's item. Especially RHD models of which, I think, only 250~ were made. And even LHD models, only 2500~ were made, and today probably only half are alive. In Bulgaria, from where i am, there is only 1 car and none for sale. Basically, if you are not an Audi fan here, no one knows this car exists.

Well, obviously Audi's owner VW which is owned by Porsche..so of course..Audi's owner helped Audi make a sportscar..thats how the audi RS began..and the Audi Leman legend..which was also actually a leftover from Porsche too...

Well, their real true performance car was the Sport Quattro, developed solely by themselves, and I think that's where the legacy started. Then came the Audi 200 20V Turbo and later the Audi S2.
