i topped up up a full tank on mine at 10:30 yesterday morning. was driving on S all day and i just got home half hour ago, there is still a quarter tank left. its not bad on fuel. depends on the way you drive it really, i can go 2-3 days on a full tank driving normal and probably just one day driving like a maniac!

@WoZIMoo the acceleraration at 260 Km/h is very low since you are reaching the top speed, therefore it won't affect the fuel gauge.

..... that acceleration after 100mph is awesome... it goes so slow from 100mph to 150....

The RS3 is a pretty fast model which mounts a Turbocharged engine and the famous Quattro traction using all 4 wheels plus Automatic transmission I wonder say I set in one of these but I only drove a S3 and that is already insane as car (Manual gearbox 6 speed, Quattro, 260 HP TURBO)... Hope to drive 1 someday..

@WoZIMoo that might explain gears 1 through 4, maybe even 5, but in 6th gear the car is barely accelerating. Also expensive modern cars have 2 or 3 fuel sensors to get a good average reading.

Ok, this actually makes sense :) To think of it, potentially using a full tank in less than 15 minutes is rather impressive. At least if we follow the particular fuel gauge here!

@thekodajay09 Engines may sound similar, but that doesn't mean the engines are the same, but with different number of cylinders. By the way the performance of this car is impressive!

@tipicamente7 Due to the kinetic energy of the acceleration the fuel moves in the tank resulting in inaccurate readings.

In Germany the first two of these are common speed limits in cities and the 130 mark is a common speed on the "Autobahn"/highway but no speed limit: It's called "Richtgeschwindigkeit" in german.

It is only a 2.5 l five cylinder turbocharged (Not V8 or V10) and it is fast as hell. With this engine and the quattro traction and DSG gearbox in it Audi made one of the most magnificent car. Oh, and it is 100% stock. I wish i can afford one :(.

I know the ZR1 is a ridicolously fast car, but come on the RS3 slow? A 340 hp car is in no way slow. this car hits 60 mph in 4.6 seconds and beat its strongest rival the 1M on a quarter mile. It is a very rapid vehicle and this i5 engine sounds just superb. Keep in mind the ZR1 is more than twice the price as well...they are not really comparable. ;)

Yes. However there is still acceleration. If there is any acceleration at all the tank will be un-even from front to back. At the same time, the fuel gauge does not act instantly. It is dampered to prevent sloshing of the fuel causing the dial or indicator to bounce. So perhaps in the beginning, if that rate of acceleration were sustained, the dial would have gone even lower than near the end.

@Effecto1234 nope it doesn't. the scaling changes from one dot per 5 km/h to one dot per 10 km/h after 80 km/h. 70 -> 75 -> 80 -> 90 -> 100.

@MoertlAgony check the weight of these cars, the 4 wheele drive add 120 kg in the car, the scirocco's wheight is 1344 kg, the rs3 wheight is 1600, Maybe you can answer the question yourself, the rs3 is fast and the scirocco is fast, and the price is different

Its because all the fuel gets pushed back, because of the geforce, and there is a little floater , like on a pond when your fishing, that drops when the fuel gets pushed back.

Yeah, because the M3 was toddling along in second while the Prius was flat out hauling the batteries around. Percent load is a huge factor in fuel economy.

5 cylinder engine? A somewhat odd configuration, but it does sound unique. Wouldn't engine balancing be a problem with a inline 5 design? Great power delivery though. It definitely pulls harder than the 4 cylinder Evo X and STI.

I agree. Until 100 km/h it´s very fast (helped by transmition, dual clutch and incredible traction), but, after the 100 Km/h it´s slow for a little hatchback with 345 HP and 450 Nm of torque!!! It suffer well after the 100 km/h!!! Could be more fast!

The fuel in the tank moves backwards when accelerating with that kind of speed -> makes it look less on the meter, thought that far?

Exactly! If the A6 TDi has this acceleration with a diesel engine with less power and weighing more, the RS3 has the OBLIGATION of make better acceleration times!
