This is something that's often forgotten about as the car gets compared to the E9x M3 and W204 C63 but B7 platform itself is an entire generation older than the other two, so how does it compare to them and how does it feel compared to the much loved R8?

The C63s engine is indeed better. But everything else is better on the Audi. Don't knock the Quattro until you've driven one!

@@CarNitty I think they are both completely different drives, C63 lairy rwd monster a proper muscle car, RS4 a little more grown up, kind of subtle performance, a more planted power. Either way both great cars 😎😎😎

I agree. Although they're competitors in the same market, they are their own animals. I love all three but the RS4 gets bonus points because of how rare and underrated it is

@@CarNitty my mate has had one before an Avant version nothing like it , pure experience to say the least 😜 I'm not far off getting one myself soon but I'm in two minds about b7 or b8 with the age of the b7 now but I am a manual guy so I dunno lol , from what a gather they are pretty reliable cars for their age as long as They're well maintained , cheers broski 🤜🤛

Nice video man! Nice to see these cars are still appreciated. Subscribed and followed I have Rs4 content for potential owners too As Far as I know the whine sound the car makes is because it uses straight cut gears to operate accessories in place of a traditional serpetine belt. Somebody correct if they have more nerd understanding of the whine sound lol

These cars are definitely appreciated. One of the best cars I've ever driven by far! Someone else has commented that think the sound is from the high pressure fuel pump perhaps?

I own one, its really cool cruiser....widebody from factory, good stance on coilovers+spacers...oem wheels are nice - but when I hear on some videos its a monster , its not, its not a fast car, it was pretty quick in 2007/2008 but nothing crazy :) cheers!

Good work - tax wise, early 06 versions fell within the lower tax bracket….fortunate for some. The whining you hear are the high pressure fuel pumps. Great car definitely an appreciating classic. 👍👍👍

Great review, one to consider and throw in the mix is a Lexus IS-F, Ive gone from a B8 RS4 to a Lexus IS-F.

It's funny you've mentioned the ISF. I think if you hang tight and keep an eye on the next upload on this channel, you may be able to see my thoughts on one 👀

@@CarNitty that will be great. Just a little note the ISF won’t reveal it self fully unless you spend a fair amount of time in the car. Gearbox is Fablous be sure to shift at high rpm (when it beeps) to get the fast shifts.

I've already driven the ISF and the video has been edited and uploaded. It's scheduled release date is 06/11. Although the gearbox isn't that fast, it wasn't the biggest thing that let it down. For me, it was the suspension. It felt quite soft for a car if it's class but I'll leave it as that for the full review

@@CarNitty Suspension if anything is too stiff but with speed the dampeners come into there own. Gearbox is ultra quick when it needs to be otherwise its a slushy Lexus (low to medium speeds) i'll await for the upload.

There should be governors in 1,2,3 to protect the engine if on factory settings & cuts off 175m/ph by factory chips... & the car will not rev that high if not up to temp & Sports button engaged it will not rev over 7.5k from the factory If yours is doing that(no cut outs etc) I'd guess its chipped like mine in which I agree with you absolute pleasure!🤔😉 Love how ppl always call the air induction a whine but I run GruppeM cold air unit so may be different set up😎👍

Yep, the owner has listed it for sale. His reasoning for the price is it's not for sale but everything has a price so if someone's willing to pay that or near that, it's theirs.

That honestly breaks my heart. I love Ireland because of the people, history and culture. I wouldn't have been against migrating over to Ireland at some point into the future but that's a bit of a deal breaker! The UK govt are more lenient than the Irish? What an absurdity 🤣

Yeah, this country does not cater for anyone who's a motoring enthusiast. Anything over 3Ltr pre 2008 is €1809 and post 2008 is €2350. So a b8 rs4, f10 m5 etc. Anything over 30 years is only €56 per year. But if you have a nice car that you only want to take out on a sunny sunday, you better have deep pockets.

I don’t buy that it’s torque limited in the first 3 gears. It doesn’t know what gear it’s in aside from speed and rpm. I noticed no real difference in the first 3 gears between tuned and stock.

Shakz is very familiar with the B7 as this is his second car and I've seen a lot of other MRC tuned RS4s around so clearly the benefits are worth it to some

@@CarNitty I am very familiar too. We don’t have MRC over here but I’ve driven mine both stock and tuned and there’s very little difference at all. Matter of fact, I kinda like stock better.

They're both manual saloons with a big V8 up top. The E39s are worth a lot of money and I can see why a B7 would be a good second choice

Let’s be realistic, a 4.2 R8 isn’t a supercar, and as much as I love the RS4, they only have about 380bhp, not 420ps unless they are tuned and they are very heavy. They are pretty slow nowadays and will be outpaced by a modern 3.0 turbo diesel.

To be categorised as a supercar, it's not necessarily about the power. It's the engine placement, width and the shape/sillouhette of a car and an R8 fits that category.

You would have to dyno the car to reveal it's true horsepower. Before you do this 380 hp is just claim too, this one could well be making over 400.

Which kind of car do you drive? You probably got your information from KZfaq videos and idiot comments. I have owned an RS4 for over 6 years, after the last carbon cleaning, my RS4 has 416 hp, no tuning. If you have no idea and your knowledge from hearing , then be quiet..😘
