I went for a short sprint in a friend’s RS6 a few years ago. I was terrified and I love fast cars! I own a Q2 which is fast enough for me in my dotage! I used to be a BMW man in France and Monaco but am pleased we switched to Audi after the BMW coupé gave up after a mere 450,000 Kim’s!

I don't know about Ireland, but in North America the shade in the storage compartment can be removed. There's a little knob that you turn and it unlocks it from the rear hatch and you can pull it off.

There is a new RS5 out now - just been released with various internal changes, and now includes a touch screen.

Audi makes you feel safe, Go safe camera vans make you flash on coming cars, a man after my own heart. Of all the strikes and industrial action since the recession, I think the Go safe workers raised the least amount of support from the public. Savage car, but it makes me wonder have cars in general become too successful in instilling a false sense of security to the driver with marketing, improvements in cabin noise suppression and handling etc, you might be grand going around that country road bend at 90kph+ but the walker or cyclist just beyond the bend may not.

Audi rank very lowly for reliability and have huge repair bills and this is exactly the sort of Audi that has given them that reputation. www.reliabilityindex.com/manufacturer Theres no RS5 on the site but the R8 looks absolutely terrible for reliability and repair costs. www.reliabilityindex.com/reliability/search/21 Reliabilityindex is not a survey its data obtained from third party warranty claims so no bias or opinion. It's a nice car but a horrific money pit if you keep it beyond the factory warranty period and besides I think a MX-5 would be more fun taking it down winding country lanes. Expensive Audi's seem to get scrapped early because it often gets to the point where repairs are more expensive than the market value of the car in a few years. Nice car to review but a possible nightmare for long term ownership.
