Lol, spot on. dealing with water pump, pcv and thermostat problems and I’m at 60k miles. I’m replacing the entire system but like he said it’s annoying getting the supercharger out if you are not mechanically inclined and you have the b8.5. Amazing car regardless

great vid , thanks. I noticed that the gearbox didn't have the the Sport selector on it? I change the oil every 5k miles or 6 Months so I really don't notice too much oil consumption. As X055 says, it's worth checking any odd noises coming from the drivers window because the wire will fail on the actuator but if you have got a bit of know-how & tools to match it should only cost about £40. All the best......

Hey im looking to get the 2012 s5 cabriolet i test drive it and when I went over rough parts of the road it shimmys or shakes the steering wheel is this supposed to do that or is it because top is missing?

More common problems would be window regulators, door actuators, hairline cracks in the coolant reservoir and front suspension always seem to take a hammering being front heavy....currently experiencing the thermostat one as we speak 🙃

Got the actuators of fleabay for £40. I also ordered some patience & some brave pills but they didn't turn up! All the best....

@@michaelloach9461 to be fair, the hardest part would be taking the door card off and putting the wire in the actuator...as it is fiddley and if you have big hands makes it somewhat harder...but not too bad for a DIY and a few hours spare

Make sure you get a good warranty that covers if the engine has to come out..!

@@ScottishCarClan I had an S5 4.2 V8 with a manual gearbox on a 57 plate. It had a full history and ran so well. One thing I was advised by my VW specialist was to get a good warranty that would cover if the engine had to come out…. Luckily I never had to use it. If it wasn’t for the £600 road tax, I would’ve kept it..!

Well, your lucky my friend! I have a b8.5 S5 and had to get a whole new motor. Well over 10k! I still love the car, just very pricey. I made sure to get a warranty when I bought it. They covered a portion and I had to take the hit for the rest. Just before the motor died, my mec unit went in the transmission…. Don’t even get me started on the price of that.
