For a plucky small channel - wow, the production! Well done. Leagues above much larger enthusiast channels. Keep on! Just for some minuses - for an aspiring future (hopefully) TT owner, the video is a bit short. However, lack of info about this car ain't one of its shortfalls. Thanks again and "instant subscribe".

I have a unitronic stage 2 remapped 2004 225 tt, and god I love it. Got a neuspeed rear sway bar, upgraded rotors + pads, neuspeed catback exhaust +high flow cat, neuspeed cold air intake, and a apr diverter valve giving a total of about 290 hp and 300 lb/ft of torque off dyno. For less than $3000 spent on upgrades, it's so worth it

Great review. I gone from an mrc stage 2 s4 b8 to a tt with similar mods as this becuase I needed a cheap run around to tie me over. But it's a alot of car for not alot of money. I've got the Defcon kit, r32 antiroll bars, pollybushed, spacers as well as the bilsteins and for a heavy car it turns in well and can be quite chuckable through the corners. Still gets looks for an old car.

weight is definitely a huge factor, i actually have a very early non esp 225coupe, (halogen headlights so no headlight washers) on the documents its saying 1427kg, so far removed the harmonic damper, rear seats, cat delete, single exit muffler, sitting on oem forged fat fives (9.7kg vs oem 6spokes 13.8kg) sai pump delete, still have all my creature comforts with the interior mostly in tact, i reckon its at around 1390kg

The closing shot is art, befitting a car like the TT. The car in 225 guise isn't that bad a drive that many reviewers have made it out to be. Give them something like a Golf GTi and they would probably gush all over it. I think the TT's cardinal sin is the visual promise (think Porsche 911) that isn't quite matched by the performance. Now that isn't really fair. The 225 is less than half the price of a 996 Carrera you could have bought at the time but it delivers much more than half of the fun. Find one that hasn't been modded to death and that has been well looked after and you will have a very useable (and eye catching) classic in your garage.

You wanna feel connected in your tuned mk1 TT? Buy a haldex controller, program it, maintain your haldex clutch and its gonna give you way more fun. If you would rather dump your money on an old car (like i would do) instead of buying a later model, there are limited slip differentials available both for the front and the rear drive. Ain't cheap, but the things you can do with this lil TT after those upgrades are MASSIVE FUN.

Great video, did you have to upgrade the clutch at 280bhp or can the standard one take the punishment? Thanks
@RandomReviews2014
@RandomReviews2014 4 жыл бұрын
Cheers, glad you enjoyed it. The clutch is standard and was replaced when the mods were first done. It's been fine for 30K.. You shouldn't have to look for clutch upgrades until you start running above 300lb/ft, although the lifespan of the standard clutch will be a bit shorter with more power. If it's an old stock clutch, you might start getting slip when going stage 2 but a new OEM is fine and retains the normal clutch engagement and pedal pressure.

Hello, do you have a 3inch downpipe as well and if so does it have a cat? If you have this how is the sound and possible drone in the car?
@RandomReviews2014
@RandomReviews2014 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Dennis. The car does run a 3inch downpipe that removes the cat *cough* The sound is pretty nice, on full boost you can hear the forced gas coming out the exhaust (like in the last shot in the video - sounds a bit angry). Drone is not bad really, it's worst at say 75mph on the motorway, but can still clearly hear the radio over it! It is a custom exhaust system with a large centre and rear silencer that was built specifically to be as quiet as possible.

@RandomReviews2014
@RandomReviews2014 4 жыл бұрын
You won't beat the bang for the buck of a stage 1. The stage 2 mods will remove a few more restrictions and allow the engine to keep making power a little higher in the rev range, that's what the extra bhp mean. If you're on a tight budget, then just look at state 1. Remember to get a 'safe map' that restricts turbo boost below 4000rpm so that the rods don't bend!

@RandomReviews2014
@RandomReviews2014 4 жыл бұрын
No probs fella.. a remap is definitely worth it. Just make sure that your clutch is healthy, your turbo is in good health, there are no boost leaks and your vacuum pipes under the inlet manifold are good or replace them if they are original (they split along with the crank pressure ball valve, I think it's called the PCB valve?)

Why the 630cc injectors... standard ones would still have leg room with the ko4 maxed out 24psi.
@RandomReviews2014
@RandomReviews2014 5 жыл бұрын
Hey Andrew, good question. The standard injectors would be right on the limit. This causes an issue with thermal protection. The K04 Turbo's small hot side at these boost pressures ramps the exhaust gas temperatures well over 900*C. When the exhaust temp limit is hit, I'm led to believe that the ECU ramps up injector duty cycle to help 'cool off' the temps. Without running injectors with headroom for the protection, things can get a little bit unsafe
@andrewwright.
@andrewwright. 5 жыл бұрын
@@RandomReviews2014 oh yeah lol. Sorry mate, didn't think about that. Thanks for the reply. So out of interest do you see any higher than 900c?
@RandomReviews2014
@RandomReviews2014 5 жыл бұрын
@@andrewwright. On the road, if you drive it really hard, it'll go into the 900's. I did a few laps around the nurburgring and hit EGT protection without driving on the edge. My EGT limit has been raised from 920*C to 950*C! Water/Meth or a more efficient turbo would sort this.

A beautifully designed sports car that Audi forgot to make sporty. What will help this car as the years roll on is that it's got a good mod community and because of the underlying VW group components you can swap out quite a few things that make a huge difference to the car, add in a stage 2 and you've got the car Audi should have made to begin with.
@fabium3410
@fabium3410 Жыл бұрын
what are those supposed vag parts you can swap out for an oem plus upgrade? im intrigued bc as far as im aware its only the brakes, like the 3.2/r32 dual piston calipers or the lcr brembos, well i guess the r32 19mm/4motion 16mm rear arb also counts, but i can always drill some extra holes into my post recall 14mm rear bar for adjustment
@fabium3410
@fabium3410 Жыл бұрын
and i wouldnt say audi forgot to make it sporty, its quite literally a hothatch in a coupe format, early cars were easy to lift off oversteer which is a feature any car enthusiast would like, but since it appealed to a wide range of people later on that caused issues and the tt had to change, it became muted and more forgiving, thats what audi thought the buyers need
