Listening to this video on my newly purchesed id4mkII and looks like you might clicked on volume knob (click = minus 15 db) but still it's loud as hell at max. And even louder via usb-c-usb-c cable. Headphones 80 ohm DT 770

Awesome review!! I've been hearing that the iD4 can get hot while in use. Did you notice any over heating or significant increase of the temperature of the unit???

Nope its a normal kinda hot. My RME gets hotter :)

Thank you for this presentation. Could you please tell me if the Audient iD4 MkII works correctly (enough power) to use a headphone Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro in 250 Ohm ? Or, should I choose a 80 Ohm version ? Thank you !

Ive been reading from a few people saying the drivers arent good for Windows 10.....anyone know if this a common issue?

Yes there are some problems with Windows 10 on the USBc port. Switching to a UsbC to A cable fixes it :)

Thanks for a great review, it's pedagogical and informative. I see you've got a Babyface Pro there as well... how do you think this compares to that? I just returned my Babyface Pro FS, it was too unintuitive and not user-friendly for me. Using TotalMix was a task. Of course RME makes better stuff in terms of sound and driver quality, but my Babyface was literally 3 times the price of the ID14 MK2. Take care!

The RME is in a class of its own. Hence the price. Total mix fx was hard at first but when you get used to it, its a dream mixer. The ID4 fairs okay considering the price point against the RME. I especially love the Jfet input in the ID4 :)

Great review!! What should i choose? The price here in Sweden is 15 dollar between EVO 4 and ID4 Mkii (more expensive). - I have Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro 250Ohm headphones, AKG D5 microphone and Edifier 1855DB speakers. I want the device to drive them all for gaming, listening to music and watching videos. - I want to switch audio source between Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro and Edifier 1855DB easy, which one is the best for that? - I want to drive my AKG D5 microphone to a good level without having to go 90-100 % gain. - Can you mute/unmute microphone quickly on iD4 Mkii? How do you do it?

great video man i just have one question from u, im plugging my electric guitar directly into the electric guitar input of this audio interface but even when i crank the gain up to max level it still won't clip. I haven't changed my strings for months could it be because of that? edit: at max gain my guitar signal is around -6db

Yeah it was designed not to clip the input for instrument level signals :)

Hi! I'm looking to get an Audio Interface for recording Audiobooks and Voiceovers. This is a home set-up with a Windows 10 laptop, in an untreated room. So, Can use only Dynamic Mics like SM58 or Rode Procaster. CLEAN PREAMP GAIN and LOW NOISE is prime requirement. I've shortlisted the Audient ID4 MK II and the MOTU M2. Both are at same price here in Mumbai, India. The additional mic input in the M2 is useful in case i decide to work on two person narration or interviews. Which would you recommend? Also, i have an option of very sparingly used ID4 (old version) for half the price! Thanks in advance!

@@mixmachineanalog Hey! Just managed to find a sparingly used ID14 old version from a friend. The price is also very attractive (a little more than half of a new M2). Seems like a win-win proposition: 2 MICS and 66DB GAIN. What say?

I have this interface and its amazing. My only complaint is that it doesn't have as enough volume as an SSL2 or Motu m2. Audient should also add MIDI to their interfaces.

Over USB C it is very smooth and I was reading 6ms over USB 3 at 128 samples. Hard to compare this to the RME because its on a different weight class. RME was 3ms over USB 2 and 128 samples.

@@mixmachineanalog To get a 'real' latency values it's best to measure it (connecting cable from output to input and measuring the shift between start of source and recorded wave). This will give the real round trip latency value, not the one reported by the driver. Also sample rate matters, because for 128 buffer size, the latency will be almost 2x bigger for 48kHz than for 96kHz.

@@8360ishan I think you might be referring to the DAW Digital Audio WOrk Station? In any case, when recording vocals on any device, you must recorod at an optimum level where clipping does not occur. The performance of the singer is also very important

I notice you have your accoustic guitar plugged into "Mic input 2" and your vocal into "Instrument input" is this correct? Surely it should be the other way around? I'm trying to set up my iD4 in Studio One and it's confusing... Which inputs to select with the routing in the audio interface set-up preference page!

I just labelled my tracks wrong. Both are using input 1. I didn't track simultaneously so I used the same input. Guitar is on the JFET input. Vocals is still on Mic input 1. What you see on the DAW is just a mislabelled track.

Great video! Thank you for this. I just got mine and was wondering how you got the iD Knob MIDI feature to work. I've got the iD button pressed but the knob is not doing anything

It just worked out of the box for me with Logic Pro X, but no luck in Ableton

Better converters, user experience and the jfet is just a dream. Plus it has a scroll wheel to control plug ins :)

@@jaceks1901 It could be underpowered on the outputs and preamps...but it will work without breaking for sure. You just won't get the maximum quality of the interface

Thank you for the effort! Better to try a normal 256-512 samples at 16 bit 48 Khz. I think this is the most realistic for recording, mixing and production work as most people who buy this don't have NASA servers as their computer to handle much better for daily work.

@@andreipopa4969 Thank`s for the advice, I personally use 128 samples at 24 bit 96khz for real time guitar effects procesor with the audient id4 mki and have a latency about 11ms (the sound is awsome), for recording and using several instances of plugins and drums need more samples as you say before, that been said, I planing to use the id4 mkii for the same purpuose that`s why i like to know the latency on a average computer, I have a macbook pro early 2015

Had tried the motu M2...the sabre 32 dac isnt what they it is on the M units. The outputs seem very week.
