In this episode, we talk about basics of audio for video productions, from recording microphones to recording settings, compressors, EQs, sound levels, True Peak, RMS, LUFS and broadcast loudness norms. We finish with a real-life video example, enhancing a professional voice over recording, balance it with music and maximize it to KZfaq LUFS loudness standards.

subbed! This was a really well done video and gives me a lot to think about. I want to create videos for yoututbe while also making myself marketable to the film industry so this definitely expanded my knowledge. Audio is such a beast! Took me almost 4 years to have a basic understanding of cameras and photography and now it's time to start on my audio journey. Thank you again for the effort put into, this I really enjoyed it.

Sorry? but i didnt understand at 30:51 - Video Project - Maximising Audio Levels. you have -18 LUFS? and you want to boost it to -14, then you push down the threshold from -2 to -6 bD, i thought it would reduce the LUFS

Depends what you use. A compressor would indeed reduce the overall level, a limiter or maximizer however pushes the levels up, depending on the settings of course

Hi Stephan great tutorial, just a question, you said that in TV/film it should be around -23/-24 LUFS but the dialogue on this clip was at -12 LUFS after the maximizer.

LUFS depends on the streaming platform. On KZfaq it "should" be -14

SUBSCRIBED. In the description, your first line should be a second title, using other words - it appears to people on search, when what they need is not in the title. I would say 30- 40 % more views than now. There is enough space to put other descriptions after that first line, also make a space between them. I know it will help you. And thanks for a helpful video, with time highlights on key points

Because i have perimer pro software.im face problm like that. Just thought I'd point hjis out, as you may not be aware - Your channel is extremely quiet and, for someone who's teaching sound, that's not a great advert. KZfaq have normalised this video to 30%, so something's not quite right with your audio. Take a look at your LUFS and then the KZfaq spec (-14LUFS). I can't help you more, that's why I'm viewing videos, to learn some mixing.
