The Audio-Technica AE 5400 is the mic to check, og you want a good condenser. Better than the d:facto!

Commenting before I know the answer. I like Mic A. It's fuller and sounds like it covers a wider range of frequencies. EDIT: And wow, I didn't NOT expect the Rode to sound that nice and full. Usually they are a little too bright and not that full sounding.

Ihave the m2 since covid time and... It s the winner. but in the blind test, it was not my choice. I think it s because i don't hear it when i use it. Thank' a lot for your review and it's a good way to make comparaison test like this one.

I prefer the AT2010 but tbh I’m not a fan of either of them. The rode is a little muddy and lacking the clarity in the upper frequencies that I expect from a condenser, but then the AT2010 is pushing too far in the other direction and sounds a bit grating and unpleasant

Hey Bandrew, I hope you're doing well! The easy part was to guess which mic was which because the AT2010 makes it so easy to recognize those exaggerated higher frequencies (which I find a bit annoying to be honest). It's not always the case, but here I agree with you in every single point of your conclusion. For me it's a no-brainer which one to chose for voice / vocal recording, it's the M2.

I’ve used an M2 into a TC Mic Mechanic for years and loved it. Only issue is that the internal capsule Mount is so incredibly flimsy that I’ve had to do a bodge repair job on three of them over the years and whilst they have been used weekly they have been treated gently. Great mics tho!

I would send the Rode back to them mine came with a ten year warranty in the UK. You are right the capsule mount is too flimsy in my opinion.

@@adamseaborne5251 yeah I contemplated sending them back but we use them every week in a church context and can't really be without them, so the repair job did the trick. I'd actually do the same to every new one I bought as it gives it much more longevity. a couple of elasticated loom bands wrapped round the mic element and two upright pins and it holds it all much more securely.

Yeah have to admit I had them pegged the other way around, just cause Rode does have some history of bright mics. I suspect like many I initially preferred Mic B but quickly grew to prefer A as B got fatiguing

the rode m2 fails in upper mid clarity for me. i guessed it too, fwiw. thanks for the video. to me to rode sound muddy in upper mids, i lose word pronunciation and i lose suspension of reality as it seems to be weak mostly in this freq range.

i have M.2 used it for 2 years. but for my voice it too warm and damp my voice. so i stick with AKG D5 which easier to control and make my voice cut tru mix better

I like A much better. I guess that's good since I have the Rode, but never use it.

Overall for me the M2 is better :D But in Backround noise.. idk but the AT2010 was for me a tick better.. or is it my ears ? XD There was no hall in the keys.. idk its so quiet to hear xD
