I’m a teacher. I took a class after I started teaching. The professor was British. The class was about things like participation trophies. By the time I finished the class I understood how wrong it was to give kids those rewards. The main thing he said about it was that when anyone accomplished something, that accomplishment is its OWN REWARD!! Like when a kid learns to ride a bike. You don’t give them anything. The fact that they learned how to do something is its own internal reward.

In middle school I was a 5’2” 110 lb center for the basketball team. That made me go harder than everyone else and I ended up with Defensive Player of The Year. Also was top 3 in the league stat wise. That set the tone for the rest of my life. Go 1000% no excuses. Even got thrown out of a car on the highway after it flipped. Was in a coma for over a week and had massive injuries. But I was up talking and eventually walking months sooner than they thought. Never give up.

That was a tight reaction. Loved striping away most of the background to focus exclusively on the lyrics. Nice breakdown and this song is the best I've heard in a while. The first time I heard the song/watched the video (after I cried tears of joy) all I kept thinking was “I bet Diddy is somewhere so relieved right now that Em wrote these lyrics before all of this hideous shit came out in the news about him”….
