I love Kurt Warner. I'm a Packers fan but I'm also from Germany and I saw Kurt as the Admirals QB and he was really good. He torched the German teams Rhein Fire and Galaxy. I had seen him in Düsseldorf once and when he became the Rams starter it was surreal. Between 1999 and 2002 I watched all the Rams games that I could find on TV. He was really, really special. I admire his perseverance and class.

The year Kurt Warner burst on the scene..I had drafted Marshal Faulk and some guy named Issac Bruce. Then when Green got hurt ..I watched some no name throw 3 TD’s! On a whim I picked him up after week 1.. by week 3 he was unstoppable. The other two were unstoppable!, I dominated the league! I was a guru! Great times! The reality is this guy is like a saint, perfect example of how to be a real man!

I knew about him from UNI, he had a near undefeated season, as a senior. UNI didn't lose enough his junior year to bench any starters. we said hello a few times when he was a Barnstormer. Lived in the same apartment complex as the team, free housing during the season. Pretty nice guy, always was friendly to my dad when he'd stand outside their apt yelling up to his teammate in the apt above. He was amazing playing arenaball.

Kurt Warner was the first NFL quarterback name that I learned on my own. As a kid I'd heard of Marino, Bradshaw, Joe Montana, Namath, etc. But Kurt Warner was the first player that I remember watching and actually seeing for myself that "wow, this Warner guy is really good. I think I'm gonna pull for the Rams". Little did I know that I was watching one of the greatest offenses to ever be assembled.

Hate to say it, but all because of Brock, I'm pulling for the 49ers in the Super bowl to win the SB. Signing off, HTTR for life! PS--I have to give you credit for rooting for this underdog rival of your team (those Rams), except for instances that affected yours in the old NFC West too. Last, but not least, Kurt! (I had friends call me from my hometown from the DC areq when he lifted our local Cardinals, who I never rooted for, by the way, praising this dude, leading the AZ Cards to a Super Bowl too, in addition to the helpless Rams earlier in his career)

What a beautiful interview! i didn't know that much about Kurt. There's so many good things about his story. Starting when he says at one time, "Why can't i just have the easy road?" Well the rough road paid off. He reminds me of the Civil War generals who were nothing until the Civil War came along and they rose above their circumstances. "I'm so much better than arena football." i went to one arena football game and i went to 1000 of them! Dick Vermeil in this story as in any story about football really takes a hold of me. Real men do indeed cry.

Kurt I'm a St. Louisan and you are my favorite athlete of all time, and the person that you are makes it so much easier to feel that way. I also truly believe in my heart of hearts that had Dick Vermeil NOT retired after your SB win, that the Rams would have indeed become a dynasty. Mike Martz was an unbelievable offensive coordinator, but didn't have the personality to be an effective head coach. He ended up running you out of town. Vermeil was perfect in the job. Only to retire and then come back a year later with KC. THE GREATEST SHOW WAS INDEED THE PERFECT STORM!

What a great story Kurt Warner is! I moved to Cedar Rapids, IA in the late 1980s when Kurt was a senior at Regist High, the Catholic private school. He was a big star with his name was in the CR Gazette sport pages every Saturday during football season. After that he would disappear and then pop up again a few years later. FIrst it was University of Northern Iowa and then the St Louis Rams. As a Cowboys fan I always hated the Rams, but Kurt made me a fan. Same story with the Cardinals. What a great quarterback, and an even better human being!

The parallels between him and his team, and Brock Purdy are amazing to me. He’s a guy who was barely drafted, no one thought he could play, and yet he was an incredibly accurate passer who fit perfectly into an innovative offense filled with HOF level talents. Kurt had Martz, Faulk, Bruce, and Holt - as well as a HOF LT in Orlando Pace. Brock has Shannahan, McCaffrey, Kittle, Debo and Aiyuk - and a future HOF LT in Trent. Neither Purdy nor Kurt had the strongest arm (a wildly overrated attribute - c.f. JaMarcus Russell), but they were precise passers who hit their receivers in stride and always seem to hit the open receiver. When I watch Purdy and hear the criticism of him being a “system QB with so much talent around him” I see Kurt. Every HOF QB I can think of had great talent around them and usually great head coaches as well. So what? Kurt is a class human being, always outwardly humble and self-deprecating, but inwardly confident.
