Brett Favre was drafted into a situation where half of the front office loved him, and the other half did not. That led to a miserable Rookie season. #BrettFavre #Packers #NFLDraft

💯. Glanville was a little weirdo, whom couldn't coach, scout, but with a Napoleon complex. Other than that, solid football guy.

Ron Wolf was a genius. Glanville left tickets for Elvis at the will call booth for home games. That explains a lot...

Wolf & Holmgren knew quarterbacks. In 1994, they had Brett Favre, Mark Brunell, Ty Detmer, & Kurt Warner in camp.

There's a story that when the then unknown Favre first walked onto the Packer practice field, one of the older veterans asked who the new linebacker was. Someone answered that he was not a linebacker but was instead their new quarterback! The old vet thought that he was pulling his leg. Favre's image of toughness and determination stood out early in his career at Green Bay and helped revitalize the storied Packer franchise.

As a falcons fan and UGA season ticket holder I was excited when the falcons drafted him because I saw what he could do when he played against us in Athens not long after his accident and surgery. Then they trade him? I was so pissed, and I knew why.

Just a tiny bit of perspective could be added here. Glanville's version of this story is just a little bit different. Glanville says that they wanted to teach Favre to be an NFL quarterback, but they could never get him sober. He's not the only one who says that Favre had a problem with alcohol, and never gave himself a chance until he confronted that problem and got sober. So, there is a possibility that Favre's version is self serving.

Billy Joe Tolliver tells a story about getting Favre drunk every night of training camp. Tolliver was the backup QB but knew Favre had a cannon for an arm, so he decided to trick Favre into screwing up in training camp. Not sure if the story is true, false, or half-true. Wherever I heard it, Tolliver told it as a humorous anecdote.

I lived up in Green Bay when Brett was at the end of his career. It is amazing how many people, that had known Brett, COULDN'T Stand him. That shocked me. I never met him. But the people that I know did, didn't have much nice to say about him off the field. Especially his Wife, she was liked even less.

I remember a story Kevin Greene told about when he was a member of the Carolina Panthers against the Packers. He said he was tackling Brett and got up to celebrate and saw Ahman Green in the end zone with the ball. He said, "I had him we were going down". He laughed when he told the story because he was now a Packer! Brett never gave up. He might throw an interception but he never gave up. We don't know how lucky we are to have had Brett and then Rodgers and now a shot with Love.
