I love that Goetze moment when Messi won the World Cup. You could see how much it had meant to him as much as the rest of us who adore football and the people that light it up for us. Goetze was also a boy with a dream that loves his country too and did what any striker would given the chance, he took his opportunity and won his country a World Cup. I watched that final and I was devastated for Argentina who had had an amazing tournament and played a fantastic final and we’re actually the better team in that final but life and football are all about moments and Argentina couldn’t take theirs and Germany did, you can’t hate on anyone for that. Fast fwd 8 years and Goetze like most of the rest of us is a football fan and looks up to Messi as a generational super talent, so to see one of the very finest players to ever lace a boot win the World Cup at his 5th and likely final time of asking was one of the truly greatest moments in sporting history and anyone with a morsel of emotional awareness could feel how special it was. There have been many truly amazing players pass through this beautiful game, some have won world cups, some have even shone in world cups, many more haven’t been able to win it but Messi did not deserve to be one of those that just couldn’t quite reach it, he has given this game every ounce of the genius he was born with and he deserved to be a World Cup winner and I’m so grateful that I got to witness the greatest athlete I have ever seen be a part of a World Cup winning squad and not only that, lead them to glory and shine while leading them to glory. It was truly painful for us in Argentina. We couldn't even hear his name without getting mad. But gotze still a good person and player. Always respectful and free from controversy. Good to see him overcome his metabolic disease and still play competitive football.
