The sergeant came out and immediately took the side of the aggressors and was very rude to the victim, the only one committing an offence was the jewellers, the sergeant basically bullied the victim, I saw zero impartiality in the encounter.

It's perfectly legal to swear at people. The legislation refers to "threatening and/or abusive language likely to or intended to cause a REASONABLE person fear & alarm". For example, a Constable making a threat of arrest to obtain details is an offence. Responding with "fuck off you power tripping cunt" isn't.

I was in Birmingham city about a week ago there was a woman with a police dog and 4 other PCSO and I asked if I could take a photo of the dog she said it's working but only a pink Shien bus was there doing promotions for there company and que of people waiting to view the bus mainly girls so the dog wasn't really working as in sniffing out drugs and I was in a public place so I didn't challenge her I just walked away she was really miserable bitch if I'm being honest.

Filming Jewellers is a red flag for security. Always have been. He could of been filming it to make a hit on the shop. Their was nothing to suggest otherwise at the time. Stop being a foolish moron. If they are so petrified of people taking photos of the watches, why have them on display in the window on a public street? You should have gone back and filmed again outside the shop just to prove a point to those jokers. The sarg lost a lot of respect from me with how he dealt with it. He spent all of the time lecturing you on 'how it looks' and said nothing to them. He should have also told them directly that they can not stop you from filming outside their store.

All because the owners ego and and self importance got the better of him, he's so used to people "obeying" him at the store, he felt he could follow a person that was "legally" videoing in public, stop him, and tell him he "owed" him an explanation. He then swears at the person (both manager and owner) and goes to the police because he wasn't satisfied with his answer. Problem is, with the idiot copper ( he actually came outside with his mug of tea) taking the owners side and not explaining AB was doing NOTHING illegal, those two clowns will have returned to the shop thinking and telling others they are some kind of heros who saved the maiden in distress.

I subscribe to a chap called Uptick watches who has a youtube thread in Hong Kong where he films watch shop windows for hours and not once has anyone said anything or tried to ask him what he is up to. How it should have gone: sergeant explains the legality of filming in public. Hears the complaint of section 5 and makes a report. Arrests are made. Footage is viewed. They are charged and go to court. The sergeant was lazy, acted without due balance, and was more interested in his mug of tea. A sergeant!

Dodgy handshake brigade. That Sergeant was totally and utterly on the side of the be-suited bell ends. His handling of the situation was mind-boggling. The shop owner felt it ok to leave his "female workers" in the shop whilst him and his pet ape went on a mission to intimidate. I would suggest that his whole "security" has now been disseminated to many tens of thousands due to his pathetic, power-crazed entitlement. AB , You handled that extremely well. In your videos you can see the moment when the penny drops, when the chests deflate, when the body language goes from silverback to village idiot.

Yo AB. I phoned this jewellers today to ask them if it's ok for me to drive past their shop. They said "of course, why? ", so I said "because I have a dashcam and I dont want to film your windows and cause your staff to feel the need to go and cry about it at the local police station". They just hung up 😂

I sort of agree with the sergeant that it's provocative, but until the message gets out through your actions AB, we will as photographers be told to stop taking pictures in public forever. There should be a public information film every week between the news for a couple of months dispelling the myth around public photography and educating people that you can take pics of anyone, any sex, any age, anywhere in public as long and not indecent.

They verbally abused a member of the public for doing something which is totally legal taking pictures in public. The watches are on display for all to see. I myself have taken pictures of watches in a shop window to show my girlfriend later to find which one she likes the best. I then returned to the shop to make a purchase. If I got verbally abused like AB they would have lost my business. These shop keepers are a disgrace to potential customers.
