The indicator on the mechanical pencil does not change the hardness of the pencil. Sadly it only indicate what hardness leads you loaded it with. If you remember to set it. I always forget.

I've loved all but the Chromaflow, but they may be more affordable for you in the UK. They are super pricey for what they are here in the USA. I wish we could trade places for a day. I had to laugh when said, “I collect art supplies as much as I use them…it’s 3 different hobbies “ because I do exactly the same….now I can just tell my husband it’s my hobby….lol😂 I loved your voice when you found Sennelier made gouache 🤩 Once again I loved watching your haul!!! I enjoy hearing your excitement, Stephanie. You TRULY do love “all the things “ just like I do!! Even if I don’t use something I never feel it’s wasted as long as it “makes my heart happy “ every time I see the items!!! Your drawing was wonderful and a beautiful selection colors!! Lovely rich colors…yes!! My father was an engineer and designer so I grew up with nice mechanical pencils, electric and neat sharpeners, cool rulers/shapes of templates… I didn’t get any of these even tho he wanted me to have…It’s ok because I think of him whenever I see them or use them!!! He is always in my heart ❤️ Oh, Stephanie! I’ve been good about staying away from gouache but I need those sets. Agree. Boxes are part of the things that lure me…. You truly seem to enjoy as much as watercolors!! Of course I always get “the sparkly” things…lol Once again, thank you so much for sharing your time, your talent and your sweet spirit with us!! I’m always smiling (inside and outside) for quite awhile after watching… Crafty hugs, Nancy Rolfe

Pentel also makes a lot of very cool mechanical pencils. I have one…the GraphGear 500, 0.03 lead size. Pentel’s GraphGear 500 is one of the more entry level ones of that line, but it’s very nice. Of course, I’ve already lost the cap and eraser cover. These were recommended in a book I have and partially read, about best tools to have for color pencil art (to do your foundation drawing with.) The 0.03 lead is super fine and smooth. I love it! Just another (fun) rabbit-hole to fall down.😊

I am not sure the Pentel quality is the same though. I have two Rotring in 0.5 and 0.7 and four Pentels in 0.2, 0.3 Orenz, and 2x 0.5, two of which broke in just a few months of normal use. Maybe I have bad luck but I hate throwing stuff after just a few months of use.

If you like the thickness and looseness of wood pencils, but want to not sharpen, save trees, and not have to buy whole new pencils when they get too small to hold, you may love using a graphite holder as much as I do. Many companies make them, but the ones I see the most are the blue metallic graphite holders (I call them lead holders but there is no lead in them so don't worry) made by Staedler. I have two, but only because I lost mine, got a second, was gifted one my dad happened to have lying around, and found the original not long after. Anyway, they also sell the sharpeners, but you can take the end cap off, twist the tip of the graphite in it, and you'll get a point that way too. You can have as much or as little graphite out as you want as it works differently from an every day mechanical pencil, and is thick enough that it won't break as easily. I absolutely love mine and you can get replacement graphite pretty cheap if you go generic from Amazon. I personally pay for staedler's graphite, but only because I was at the art store when my last "lead" finished, so I paid the premium to get it from the art store. This is what they look like: Staedtler Mars 780 Technical Mechanical Pencil, 2mm. 780BK a.co/d/1DlS2dY

Ohhh, thanks for the tip! I love the convenience to take them in my car especially...since right now I'm in my car at least an hour every day. Thanks so much, I will be sure to check that out. Sorry for the late response, youtube doesn't like links so it holds comments with links.

The Arrtx metallic paints are very pretty, but I think they overpriced them. (Plus they've got tons of competition.) They're at $39 on Amazon minus discounts. When I watched another review they had already reduced them by 10% and now they're 20% off. There were lots of remarks in that review about the high price that the reviewer agreed with. Oh well.😮
@TheGypsyChic1

That is odd? I thought I saw them for $31.99 with the coupon? All of the Arrtx products I've tried before were great, with a great price that I would have paid myself. I'm not sure why these are $39, maybe it is a mistake? I thought these were very nice, but for that price you can get a set of 12 Coliro paints in a real palette, or save up a bit more for the 24 Paul Rubens Metallic set. @@TheGypsyChic1 oooh, that’s awesome! Did she mention whether the colors change or not when erasing that graphite? I imagine that the beauty of these colors rely on that graphite as it is graphitint. Might end up with brighter or duller colors or something? I’m from Belgium so I don’t know whether I can order from there or not (in terms of shipping costs that is). I do like the fact that you mention where you bought them and such. I would even love to know whether there where other promotions that caught your eye and than the main thing for that, to know why you’ve chosen whatever you’ve chosen over the other supplies. Even as to what you’ve been using in the past and why you’re leaning to a certain supply, to know where your interest in a supply comes from, where you got the inspiration for another supply if inspiration was a deciding factor in choosing that particular supply. Also how or where you got the curiosity to try that particular new supply
@TheGypsyChic1
@TheGypsyChic1 Жыл бұрын
No, and I haven't tested them other than what I've painted in this video yet. But, I think all of the colors would be duller because they seem to be pigment mixed with graphite and all a bit muted. They do have an Inktense line, as well...but I have not tried them. They would be brighter colors I believe. I'm not sure on the costs from Belgium. Thank you for sharing what information you would like me to add. I try to mention where I find deals, but often by the time I have my video ready to publish, it has been a few months or more since the sale I ordered from. Lol I've had a few viewers get mad at me because the sale was over, so I'm never sure if I should mention it or not. Cultpens is where I found these for a great price, though. They currently offer free shipping with $135 for us here in the USA. So, you would have to see what they offer for Belgium. They run sales often so just keep your eyes out! The prices can very greatly. At the time I purchased these, they had all Derwent products 10% off, plus a free gift with purchase. Plus, it helped me get free shipping. I think some shops offer the paints individually, as well. Thanks for letting me know more information you are interested in. I really enjoy trying different brands and colors from all over the world. Each brand seems to bring something a bit different. I always have a wishlist going. If I find items on sale, or offering a free promotional product then that helps me choose which product to try first! Haha.. I am always inspired by colors, but I hope one day to not need to try all of the colors! I hope that helps!! ;D

So, I just checked Cult pens again today...and now Derwent prices have went up quite a bit. So, I'm not sure if it is inflation or what is going on? But, a wooden box set I paid $140 for a few months ago is now $250. So, I'm sorry my comment is probably no longer relevant. ;( The Caran D'ache prices still look good though for now though, and they have some sets 15% off. You can also google for a coupon for an additional 10% most of the time. I hope that helps!

Thanks for sharing! I have not found a favorite yet, as I have a heavy hand too. The Rotring is pretty but a bit too heavy for me to reach for it often. ;)

I loved reading your comment, lots of good helpful information! I've only tried a few pencils and haven't compared the different hardness, etc. I was using a Faber Castell before, which worked fine. I usually go for a product with color to spend my money on. Lol So, I haven't found any pencil that I can tell much of a difference yet. Lol I loved reading your comment! You can't write me too much, as it's so fun to have art friends!!

You do know you have to change the lead inside and simply set the hardness notification on the pencil. It doesn’t actually do anything to the lead. Sorry.

Yes, thank you!! I pinned the comment of another kind viewer who let me know, and noted it in the description. I wondered what kind of magic could do that? Lol

Yeah, if I had it to do over I would have just shared the swatches after dried. But, I get requests to do live swatches.
