@@thevilkids Her choice of ME! and Lwymmd were the right choice as lead singles. Although it's not her best quality songs, it was the best opening song for the era tbh. Cruel Summer and Getaway Car as lead singles would no work rlly. She could've used them as post-album singles tho huehue

Yes and "I never needed anything more" in the back, like, an echo, what she really thinks, the hidden truth that she doesn't want to admit. This mashup is a WORK OF ART

This is SO good and Taylor needs to make a musical of her songs. This mashup screams “summer affair love story” to me. So basically - Getaway car is the voice of the young girl, making reckless choices, believing she’s going to run away with a guy (who’s already taken). And then August is her as an older woman reflecting on her carelessness, and recognizing, “he was never mine.” The deep chorus of August reminds me of an older woman, who is now thinking back on her choices, which she realizes were wrong..though she looks back with some enchantment at the man in the memory. “So much for summer love and saying is, you weren’t mine to lose.” Getaway car - which is already a song about running away from a relationship, with another guy - describes her IN THE MOMENT, when she’s younger, believing she’s going to be with the guy... the voice is higher pitched. Ok rant over. TAYLOR, PLS MAKE A MOVIE

I agree, also the sound and the rythm of Getaway Car is more juvenile and upbeat than August that is more calm and soft, which perfectly fits what you said!!

I think so too. I'd like to think that the reason she didn't release getaway car as a single back then was because she knew it's not gonna be "hers" until 2022 so she saved it until she makes sure she's not gonna lose it if you know what I mean
