Were he so critical?
@Zalemones13 жыл бұрын
@@Drachenschnauze Probably not, his rendition of this piece is recorded and quite laid back regarding technical terms. It seems old Pablo was playing music for fun, not for perfection.

In many scores it's actually written that Sarasate incouraged different interpretations and styles to best emulate the so called 'gipsy music'.

Indeed, I believe you need a flawless technique and a very fine Instrument for that

I agree he is a marvel of a performer, but when you are as advanced in age as I am, you’ve heard so many violinists perform this beautiful composition. Never compare artists or play them against each other. Just enjoy their God given talent. It’s hours and hours of hard work to get to this level of ability.

He is an incredible musican - much more than "only" one of the best or best violinist. His musicality and technical precision are so "natural", individual and impressive - i think that makes him so special.
@manishsigdel8243 жыл бұрын
Idk if anyone can be called "the best" but he is always consistently veeeeeery good. I prefer individual pieces by others, but he is always in the top 3 (imo) for almost any piece I've heard him play. Masssssive respects

That finishing sequence is absurd. There are a lot of other fantastic violin players that more than do this piece justice. But those last measures here... Augustin is on another level.
@jameshopkins214 жыл бұрын
Augustin, your playing may be the best I've ever heard. Your intonation is astounding, and I don't think your techical facility will ever be exceeded. Breathtaking, sensitive, sincere, and humble. You have been through some terrible things. Like Perlman's polio, your burn injuries seem to have brought out something warm and almost divine. You are a blessing to mankind. God bless you.
@elizabethf80784 жыл бұрын
There is a depth of soul that only comes through hardship. People ask if there *is* a God, why He allows horrible things to happen to good people. This is my answer. I had a period of great suffering that felt like punishment but now I realize why it had to happen... and I'm no virtuoso. It's called the Refiner's Fire, and Augustin is pure gold. Not only as a musician, but from what I've seen it's as a human being as well.
@durban553 жыл бұрын
So well put. Beautiful sentiment to Augustin.
@davidquinn96763 жыл бұрын
@@elizabethf8078 I recall Perlman saying that after his polio he realized he had no other way but the violin. He's a big strong guy, maybe he wanted to be an athlete, but then his choices vanished.

Thank you Jim. I cry when I hear him play.
@tonianzlovar7590 Жыл бұрын
I doubt Itzhak or Augustin would agree that their respective impediments brought anything to their music. Its just hard work honesty towards your own product. No fake grandeur or fake humility. You play, you listen, you fix. For years and years. And in the last inch... the talent makes the difference. Some people can achieve 99%, but only a few can do 100%. That said. I cry every time I listen to Augustin. I am so humbled by his mastery I want to hide in a corner and never touch the instrument again. My heart and brain want this sound, but my hands can not produce it. Not in a million years. My playing is a pale shadow of real violin playing. But at least I was alive to hear these masters play. I have to be thankful for that.

He’s so gentle with the violin yet he demands a lot from it. Its like his violin gets lessons from him and every new video the instrument learned something new.

@generalsnicky32194 жыл бұрын
Perlman's version is slightly more playful but another one I like. Can you recommend renditions by minor artists?
@JDWindtPlaysGuitar4 жыл бұрын
@@generalsnicky3219 beat me up to it. Ithzak Perlman is more balanced and his intonation is just flawless, but Hadelich is way more powerful. I like this one better because Augustin's playing just catches you and inmerses you into a different world; his rendition is just more soulful to me. Just listen to his many renditions of the Mendelsohnn Violin Concerto and you'll get what I'm saying. . . . Yes, and it's not by Sarasate...he, well, "borrowed" it... kzfaq.info/get/bejne/f72qptNj25eXcqs.html It's a composition by Elemér Szentirmay, a song called „Csak egy szép lány van a világon“. www.henle.de/blog/de/2013/08/19/geklaute-melodien-%E2%80%93-sarasates-%E2%80%9Ezigeunerweisen%E2%80%9C-unter-plagiatsverdacht/ What I find remarkable is, that Sarasates gypsy airs have no relationship to the music of the spanish Calés...that it's only based on ungarian folkmusic which was played by ungarian roma.

I started this piece and also Scherzo & Tarentelle. I've done pieces at this level before, so I'm like "huh, really can't be that hard! certainly i can do this!" As soon as I listened to recordings of this and Scherzo and Tarentelle, my confidence went down sm. Just listening to this tells me how much work I will have to put, a lot of repetition especially for the runs. god, i'm dead.
