This beer is so good it changed my life

Had this beer at the Augustiner beer garden in Munich and it was absolutely delicious.

Augustiner is the traditionalists brewery at Oktoberfest, their the only one that has their beer in wooden kegs still

Augustiner keller Is by far the best beer garden in all of Munich. It is vast and I mean vast. Their beer, out of the wood barrels is like a slice of heaven. And the food is outstanding.

Augustiner is the best lager beer to come out of Germany, ever. Hands down the best, go-to brew.

Drink few of these beer to start the evening in my holiday trip in Germany it's a beer you can see all over Munich and other cities people drinking great stuff!

We labelled this beer as "better water," whilst in Augsburg. Drinkable, refreshing and very cheap in Germany. It is superb, one of my top 10 beers.

I rotate between Hofbrau and Paulaner just for ease of access on the east coast of the US, but when I make my way out to much larger alcohol stores, I always buy a case of Augustiner. Such an amazing beer.

I live just opposite the brewery (btw it looks like Charlie’s Beer Factory) so this has a special place in my heart but as bottled Helles go I prefer Tegernseer (also very hyped) or Hacker Pschorr. That said, Augustiner freshly draught from a wooden cask in a beer garden is heavenly.

Went to a town called faffenhoffen (I thinks that’s the right spelling) with my mate whose father is German and grew up there. That beer is stunning. They have an annual festival called humolous lupolous, deffo get out there if you can! Really nice people

My favourite, you should try Augustiner Edelstoff as well mate. A little stronger but very nice as well.

My favourite Lager, to this date haven't found a tastier one.

Ever since I lived in Germany in 1999, out of all the beers I've ever had..this is my fav and I had a lot of Helles. They used to sell this out of beer vending machines in Munich for 5 Deutsch Marks, which was about $2.50 lol..I drank that machine dry.

I went to Munich with the Family in 2017 with the family, I’ve been ordering it into Adelaide South Australia through an importer ever since, my favourite all time beer👍

I hate to be that guy but drinking this in Munich it’s simply incredibly more-ish. You have a sip- it’s sweet, grainy, refreshing touch of hops and then that lovely malt finish on the back end which invites you to have another sip. It’s just lovely. The bottled version is nice of course but if you get the chance to try it while in Germany you must!

Try the Tegernseer Helles and their Spezial. Up there with Augustiner.

I really love German Weissbiers. I will defo try this when find it. At the moment i'm really loving liquoricey flavoured stouts. Drinking some from lidl the last few weeks.

103 degrees here in The Ohio Valley today. Pilsner Urquell here. .Lagers certainly have their place.

I've heard Augustiner is one of the best from multiple people; I have not had the chance to try it myself.

3 to 4 liters of this kind of beer makes people do really weird stuff on the Oktoberfest in Munich every September... 🤣

It's light and sweet. It goes down your throat like cold water. Perfect on a hot summer day or if you're trying to get drunk fast, that's why young people like it here.

I'm from Germany, but the Augustiner always feels a bit like throwing up, but it tastes really good!

On a hot day, its a tough choice between a Hell Bier and a refreshing shower. I'll generally choose the beer, my wife will tell me to choose the shower.

I have never had a bad German bier. However my two favorite biers are Wiehenstephaner Hefeweizen and Warstiener Pilsner.

tried this for the first time in my personal paradise mode of watching a Liverpool match in a pub on a huge screen, cozy little bikers type bar in Birkenhead, paid about 5 quid for the bottle, proper quality drink though, there was about 3 inches of beer in the bottle and I went for a piss, got back and the barmaid had collected my bottle from my table , thinking it was discarded, 5 quid a bottle, 3 inches left to savour and she wastes it while I'm in the loo, couldn't believe it, but really lovely drink though, especially while watching the mighty reds on top form, yeah !

if you like beer from wooden kegs, you can also try Hacker Pschorr in Munchen.

I really enjoy Pauliner wich is available in Canada, however out of a can it never measured up to the pint I had at the train station. I know it's probably the equivalent of Molson Canadian to a German but it's very enjoyable.

The funny thing about is, that this 300 ppl company is so known. They never did any advertising, were made big by female managers at around late 1800,s last female owner Elizabeth Haberland-Wagner conducted the hole brewery to a foundation, so the brewery can never be sold to a big holding like INBEV etc.. There is a saying down at my hometown Munich....have two of it, the 2and one is for social issues! Cheers Mate

It's almost a photo-finish between this beer and Tegernseer Hell. The Tegernseer just pips it for me though

For all the confused non-Germans who wonder why they call their beer "hell": "Hell" and "Helles" mean something like "bright", "pale" or "fair" in German. Btw "Lager" is German too, it means "storehouse".

Nowdays, in Mexico, Augustiner is available for us. Very special beer, Germany knows how to make it!

I think which German beer is best is subjective, they're all good. For me Lowenbrau is best, but that's because it was the first German beer I tasted after the stuff UK breweries offer, it was a revelation. Likewise, I didn't really enjoy Warsteiner with its distinctive flavour, and neutral about Krombacher, (but doubtless both very good beers). I've tried all of the cheaper supermarket German beers I've come across, all of which are decent. I like Pauliner. I know about Augustiner's reputation but have never seen it - I'd like to try it, and Spaten.

Living in Munich this was my daily brew. Living now in the US I am dissapointed. Augustiner imports some beers but not this helles. So disappointing on top of that a 6 pack of some regular Augustiner is $15+. Wish I could go back and send some cases

Try "Spaten Münchner Hell"! and then tell me what do you think. I am confused. Ajnd to confuse you more there is another good Lager "Augustiner Edelstoff". ! You've got to try them both!

Simon, you reviewed a lot of the Oktoberfest beers in the passed and given them poor ratings. With your new found love of German beers you should go back and try them, in particular Paulaner’s Oktoberfest beer. Also, in terms of supermarkets over here, Paulaner’s Munchen Helles is the best we can get.

It is shocking good beer for not some hypster craft brewery with hops that cost as cocain.

Krombacher is the most common beer in Germany, followed by Bitteburger

The carbonation doesn’t push the beer around the mouth it’s a liquid so will go anywhere it can.Anyone whos had a leaking bathroom knows that😂

Tegeenseer and Bayreuther are also fine.

How did it compare to Warsteiner? I recommend Weheinstephaner Helles.
