One thing I learned through trial and error about melody is that the rhythm is everything. The push and pull between the notes and the spaces between them. Just adjusting the rhythm and spacing in a melody a little bit can change a boring melody into something special.

I really think rhythm is the most important element. Rhythm is what people dance to and dancing is such a primeval activity that people react to rhythm so readily. I think that anybody learning piano should learn to add rhythm really early on because it brings a whole new level of excitement to the instrument. Adding rhythm between the left and right hands even in quite a basic way can make a beginner feel like they're playing the piano like someone with a lot more experience than they actually have, it's so motivating!

I think its part of what made isley brothers so timeless and able to compete from the late 50s all the way to 2020s, they didnt have a dedicated drummer (ernie could drum, and im sure chris as a key player became useful for drums in the 80s) they had a guy for live and studio drummer but id imagine a larger percentage of their creation process was just bass, guitar, and keys, but they push and pull off of eachother in such a way that basically dictates the drum pattern before its even played, then you add that kick drum so that the bass notes push off of it and its such a pocket created

I am from Europe and absolutely not a ganster type of guy, rather an emo punk but I love rappers like Biggie, Eminem, Big, 50C L etc. because they really had something to say and the style was so unique, I was wondering is it all just them? But then I discovered they have great talented company like Scott around them also. And its the greatest thing that he even shares his knowledge instead of hiding it. Thank you so much!

Scott is one of my Top 3 producers. That actually plays a instrument and makes the beat.I disagree when folks try to say thats only beat making when actually producing music is, playing instruments, writing, arrangment, directing, mixing, mastering. All those hats combined. Not just slapping a popular name on it to get credit 😜. Scott is one of the few that you can see on KZfaq actually playing. Im not against sampling & sequencing or programming, but most producers today dont play any instruments at all, just programming, or conducting someone elses idea (remixing).

a producer is a producer, if u looking for an instrumentalist or keyboardist then say so. stop downplaying other producers. a producer is someone who produces music. nowhere is it stated that u need to be an instrumentalist.
@Thunder-sf4qy
@Thunder-sf4qy 9 ай бұрын
@@olabassey3142 There's different levels to producing albums, a producer is not just a producer, if that's the case tell that to Dj Khalid and all the rest who classified beat makers separately from producers. Pay attention to the game b4 you talk. Re-read my post, how is it down playing if someone can do the mixing, beat making, arrangements, writing, editing, mastering, sampling- programming all on there own, like Dj Quik, Pharrell, Timbaland, Dj Battlecat and a FEW others in hip hop. There is a difference, you save a lot of 💲. And your more valuable to artists who are looking for someone who can vs those who can't, so go study the game and stop hating, you sound ignorant. My first original post was given Scott Storch his props for PLAYING his music and producing Hits in his catalog. And to Learn as much as you can by playing real instruments also. This includes fixing equipment, taking apart your instrument and putting it back together, setting up your equipment & instruments as a sound tech, cleaning your instruments & equipment, and tuning your instruments, that's all included of being a MUSICIAN. What wrong with that? Nothing. WHY WOULD A MUSICIAN HAVE A ISSUE WITH THAT? OR BE OFFENDED WHEN THATS WHAT WE DO. So I can tell by your post you must not. That's why alot of music sounds the same right now, programming the same rhythm, or loops, drag n drop into lower or higher keys, pasting computer Ai loops. There's more to creating music if you can play real instruments as well. By the way I do both. I play my own instruments not just piano or keyboards, various instruments are used. So If I decide to higher another musician then I can, but I don't have to rely on that. 💯 REAL TALK.
