That was lovely. I was born in Ayrshire in 1961. We spent just about every Saturday in Ayr when I was growing up. So many happy memories. Thank you ❤

I remember the big dockside crane. We occasionally went to Ayr from Kilwinning for a day out, but it was mostly Prestwick we went to outside of regular trips to Irvine and Saltcoats.

Worked at the County Hotel 1976 in Wellington Square loved Ayr a bustling vibrant town so sad to see it now

a grew up in Prestwick, but when a wiz auld enuff a used tae go tae the Ayr pool every friday night and fishin' in the harbour and go to the Orient picture hoos and the wan up the tap o' the toon near Burns monument, a canni mine the name ay it, loved seeing the swans near the auld brig an supportit Ayr Utd but now a live 12,000 miles away in Australia

Aye Davie... An they said the same tae Rab, the unco smert o his dae an 'a. Ye'll aye get the wee yappie dugs adopting the affected manners o' a culture that's nae their ain. Let them blether: they ken nae better - an it makes them feel superior, at least for a whilie. O wad some pow'r the giftie gie them …. Housing schemes full a junkies now,especially north of the river,infact, North Ayr and south Ayr are like 2different towns, my grandparents lived in forehill area of South Ayr and at the weekends I would stay there, and noticed that they spoke a little bit posher, and that was a council scheme! I was brought up in Wallacetoun district of North Ayr, it was all 3bedroom 8 in a block flats, definitely poorer than forehill but we thought we were better than Dalmilling, Whittletts and Lochside areas of north Ayr, Now North Ayr is ruined by drugs and where I grew up is considered the worst.
