Similar to Pride rules, not enough action on the ground automatic stand you up. You can't hold a person for position and rest. They want action, disadvantage to wrestlers and jujitsu who's trying to advance in position. But those are the rules.

One championship wanted Sang to win, 1st standing them up when Bigdash was working, eye pokes, holding it shorts, ect allow Sang to rest but even when he was given the opportunity to strike in the 4th and 5th round he couldn't put him away.

I don't know if Sang really won.. it was close and it's in Myanmar. But Shimada really got biased on this one.. standing them up on short lull when Sang seeks reprieve while on the ground, breaking them up when Bigdash has Sang on standing hold, and warning Bigdash for action and into danger, when Bigdash is tired and trying to get wind.

Damage outweighs takedowns. This is the issue people ignore the rule set and judge according to their own mind lol. Read the rules, bigdash had nothing but takedowns and very brief control moments, and lost the striking exchanges. And didn't effect any real G&P good decision according to common sense, but more importantly, according to the rule set

@@stephanthegreat1348 NO, he knows the rules. If there is no action the ref stands them up. You see the same thing in the UFC. The fighter will hold the one on top to avoid damage and also to stall so the ref stands them up. In the UFC fighters are always looking to the ref in a petition to get the stand up. In ONE the emphasis is on damage, not control. Bigdash had more control, in the third and 5th round, but Aung La did more damage.

If we were going by the typical western judging standards, Bigdash would definitely have won this fight 48-47. But the commentators do mention repeatedly that they don't use a round-by-round system, and given that, I can absolutely see their scoring criteria also being different enough from ours for Aung La to justifiably win. He did create more threats than Vitaly, and if they prioritize huge striking differentials over takedowns/top control, then it makes perfect sense.

If you score it round-by-round according to the tradional MMA rules, I think Vitaly won this one albeit by a slight margin. However, what absolutely boggles my mind is just how freaking biased the ref was. Everytime Vitaly had Aung La in a disadvantageous position on the ground or against the cage, the ref would just stand em up essentially nullifying all of Vitaly's hard work. Also, everytime Nsang got taken down, he'd just keep looking at the ref and even speak to him as if to say 'What are you doing? Get me outta here!'. Overall a great fight mired by questionable judging and very shady reffing.

in Asian MMA. Takedowns and control mean nothing unless everything else is even. So under there rules the decision was fine...but that ref was clearly biased with the stand-ups and I have no doubt the Judges were giving Sang the decision if all 5 rounds were 10 - 8. OneFC is awesome but they are more sketchy than the MMA press would have you believe. Too many questions need to be answered. I love pride though and they were completely corrupt so not trying to hate on OneFC

sorry to disappoint u girls, but the judges and referree did a fair job, they are just abiding by the MMA sport rules. If you girls are rooting for bigdash and hates aung la that's a different story

Bigdash is my favorite fighter after Aung La. See 2 of my most favorite fighters fighting each other is really hard.

Bigdash ran out of gas for the last 4 rounds. he had a lot of take down but can't do any damage to his opponent

Ecuadoors Travel it's not about who's bleeding it's about who took the most vicious hit and obviously big dash took some heavy shot and almost got knocked out.. the ref should have stop the fight in the very first round..big dash took some unnecessary shot to the head on the ground and pound action

I think the confusion stems from not unserstanding onefc has Different rules...under pride/one fc, you get stood up if not causing damage ..designed to prevent laying on opponent like gsp would do.Under UFC rules, yes it would prob not be stood up. He prob won on aggression, damage, and cage control as aung was going fwd and everytime vitaly got hit, he back paddled.very close.
