HDFC Bank consumer experience & Innovation is far better than any local or foreign banks in India. Yes, presently its services have diluted in quality but it's focus on quality is still strong. It's shares may be stagnant but it still is the only quality bank for now! HDFC sold its LCR investments that were mainly Indian Gov securities. And same was shown in quarterly report as profit. So that overall profit margin can be maintained. Selling it's own assets & showing profit is not a healthy sign

Overowned is just a term. If you look at bigger picture, hdfc bank is good buy at current levels. The growth may not be the that fast, but it is certainly a prospect for long term investment.
