@@dokinght thematically a Laspistol, Bolt Pistol, Plasma pistol, or Infernus pistol would work best. In lieu of those other options for now, Laspistol with Deadshot, 5% crit chance, Flak or maniac damage, Dum Dum, and Infernus is the most thematic ranged weapon a Commissar could run

This is why as veteran I run boltgun/chainsword, its sometimes unwieldly to swap to boltgun in combat and low ammo for the boltgun, but im never lacking in piercing armor and able to stagger enemies

@@aegisslayer5808 the revolver does great damage against armoured stuff, and is really quick to swap to. it's not a boltgun though, but ive been quite enjoying it

Wish they'd expand the theatre of war a bit. Fighting chaos in a hive city is fun and all but most of the maps kind of blend together. Ironically my favorite maps are the ones outside of the hive city in the desert because you can actually see the sun. I wish they'd add a warzone on an agriworld or something that'd expand the color pallete to the point that vermintide had. Maybe add genestealer cultists or tyranids themselves as an enemy type in the future but that one's a bit of a stretch. Still, having enemy variety beyond just nurgle cultists would be nice.

man, seeing the mourningstar full of peeps after the update made me almost cry.

Try a high finesse chainsword with "shred" and "devastating strike", absolute blender machine. Add in laspistol and krak grenades for dealing with ogryns and groups of armoured targets.

Actually had a weird moment with this. Went into a Heresy High-Intensity and a DH spawned in pretty early on. Might have been because the guy was messing around but he wouldn't stop throwing the knives around even after we marked the DH, but for some reason the DH still didn't activate despite getting hit by like 8 shots of assail...at least not until I tried going around it, then it went ballistic and targeted me. I was hugging a wall, going into a hallway that led elsewhere, should have been a relatively safe distance, but it went after me anyway even though I did nothing to it prior, possibly because I was the closest at that moment. So yeah, I got wrecked, and the horde that flooded in alongside the DH waking up slaughtered the rest of the team. From that point on, if I see a psyker using assail and he doesn't stop with a DH in the area, I'm inclined to either hang back or run away.

@@Yorushima yeah. When DH wakes up I just fight the horde and leave. It only damages the first person to wake it and then the one who did the highest damage afer that. I'll rescue your ass later IDGAF. But sometimes I get a PUG that speaks without speaking. Suddenly all players stop in front of the DH, the designated dodging guy/slab ogryn steps up, then it's on. As much dmg as I can output.

Weird though, I've never woken a DH with my knives, and I chuck them around like nobody's business. Must've been an unlucky bounce then. I accidentally hit a barrel once which blew up my squad, but that was about it.

@@lonewanzerpilot On the rare occasion that I'm running a shield ogryn, I'll always ask the team if they want to kill the DH. It helps with the Monstrosities contract, and there are still people who haven't completed the penance. And it's satisfying to kill one without losing people.

I bull rushed past several ogryns that hid a demonhost behind them. They were very cheeky.

I think any kind of bolter is far too valuable to trust in the hands of an ogryn 😉

Get the recon lasgun with rending on critical and infernus and you can kill anything, including crushers. Feels like a hellhu

The thing I wanna see for Ogryn are some more Power Mauls. A power maul and brute shield would be an amazing addition, giving a mix of heavy attacks from the slab shield but doesn’t have the ability to block ranged and gives more mobility, and still allows the use of powering up the maul. A big 2 handed powermaul would be cool too, giving it the main advantage of more reach and single target damage but much slower

yeah I think Scrier's Gaze is best for Gun Psyker. i havent played around with it too much yet, but i would like to see some additional stuff for gun psyker (visual effects, audio cues, warp damage application, things like wildfire and kinetic flayer) that help separate gun psyker from guns on other classes. Glowing psychic bullets and all that. has the potential to be a really fun class, but needs a bit more cooking to make The Exile stand out more

@@GrimViridian I use assail and the heavy las pistol. Assail gives horde clear the pistol lacks, and the pistol is good at killing scabs where assail can be shaky. My pistol is mediocre and it still feels good. Could use better perks and blessings

@@milkandcookiesTW My dream would be some manner of homing bullets tied to disrupt destiny. The Psyker on the Inquisitorial Agent Killteam can shoot around cover so it'd be a nice tabletop nod and specifically gun oriented.

@@EmoSquirrel781 good to know the pistol is solid, I personally just hate using guns on my psyker since it makes me feel much less like a psyker (and I love the voidstrike staff) so I don't think gaze will work well for me, too much peril

if you have any specific suggestions I'll definitely look into it. But yeah for sure I have plans for a Bullgryn Slabshield/Grenadier Gauntlet build vid, Deathcult Assassin build and all sorts of different stuff. I really liked making the Krieg vid too, so I'll likely hit that style up again in the near future

I recognize something like that probably wouldn't come until later in the games life because if it's anything like VT2's it basically becomes the default game mode that overshadows the "normal" maps. It's basically what me and all my friends are waiting for even if it's like 2 years down the line.

In those types of videos it would be great to also mention what cosmetics to use, what weapons to use, and what playstyles fit those RP/lore friendly builds best. Maybe also making a build specific to each subclass, and adding cosmetics and such to really define each subclass(like v2 subclasses). I would love to see a catachan jungle fighter build(cosmetics, weapons, etc.), another krieg build(now with the new subclasses and skin), comissar build(cosmetics, weapons, etc.), bullgryn(cosmetics, weapons, etc.), deathcult assasin(cosmetics, weapons, etc.), zealot "preacher"(cosmetics, weapons, etc.), exiled sister of battle(cosmetics, weapons, etc.), gun lugger ogryn(cosmetics, weapons, etc.), melee catachan/berserker ogryn(cosmetics, weapons, etc.), krieg ogryn(cosmetics, weapons, etc.), electricity psyker(cosmetics, weapons, etc.), warp fire psyker(cosmetics, weapons, etc.), rogue trader psyker(cosmetics, weapons, etc.), bodyguard/"captain" ogryns(cosmetics, weapons, etc.), regular cadian guardsman sharpshooter(cosmetics, weapons, etc.), black ops/inquisition special sharpshooter(cosmetics, weapons, etc.). I don't know as I'm just spit balling from what I've tried to make in game with the cosmetics, weapons, ults, and little lore I know. Those are just some suggestions/ideas I could think of, but you know more lore than me. If anything, I'd say the Ogryn got the best deal. They went from fun OP to busted OP.

yeh somehow Veteran ended up as a support. The Shooter builds don't dump nearly enough DPS w/ the amount of elite and specials in the game now

Turns out the one shot is a little more finicky than I thought, even with empower psionics. Warp fire is useful for dealing with elite hordes, the later ones should stack enough to get you one shots though

blocking melee attacks works 360 degrees, but it costs more stamina outside a specific block angle inside your cone of vision. generally you want to be looking at the target you block or parry. there's also a sound effect that plays when you are about to be backstabbed, which is how i knew to react there. In that case i heard the sound effect play, blocked while looking away, then quickly turned around and finished him

Player here using knives for level 3 and 4, can confirm it's viable with randoms. With an actual team, crazy. The knives can cc pretty good because they also cause stagger in large groups, you just have to get pretty decent at switching out weapons once you use up the knives. Get the right skill tree and you pretty much get back all your knives in 5-7secs. I can do whole runs with just knives, sword and ability. Lol

They don't think they are too dumb to change settings, they don't add them because there shouldn't be any need. PC's can have wildly different specs so you need to be able to change settings because not every rig can handle the same load. Whereas one Series S is no different from any other, so if it works on one of them it should work on all of them. So if it runs like shit for xbox than they just need to optimise the game still, or your friends xbox is on the verge of death or something.

@@skyblue2708 players on console x or s should have the option to for those same settings as well varied devices or not. If I want to run 120fps 1080p with minimum graphics then yeah I should be able too. The s is not on the lowest graphics settings I checked its around medium with no sharpening but motion blur and low filtering is what I could tell from the get go. Let the players have control its a simple thing to do devs are just to lazy to do it

Figured as much. Still is an issue though for the lower difficulties that assail is so strong that it can often leave your teammates kinda awkwardly lacking in stuff to do, which definitely needs some fixing.

Smite (with empowered psyonics) is imo stronger than assail, you can just freeze an entire horde of enemies while your team takes them out without being in any danger. It also feels like a get out of jail free card, when you're in a bind you just whip out smite and everything stops.

very usable at a minimum. can still be a bit clunky and awkward, but the bleed blessing on special is pretty crazy

Ooh... you basically got the same build I had went with, just a few good change suggestions likely based around having competent teammates.

...so I need to add hoard control far more. Ideally killing, not just holding. Maybe a good chainsword to sub out for that task might do well enough.

Try a dueling sword. I like the MKV personally. I'll use it with a heavy las pistol and avail as a horde clear. The finesse bonus talent makes the dueling sword a monster with critical hits. Mine has uncanny strike and shred, so if you're careful with placing shots you can just mulch stuff

But man I love the mobility bonus on the dueling saber. So much fun.

How about having fun?

You work towards building the perfect loadout. Getting that perfect weapon or perfect curio is just satisfying because it changes the gameplay quite a lot. There are achievements to complete too - ingame and on steam. But ultimately it's all a matter of having fun or not.

I think it's pretty balanced once you get to higher levels and they are coming from everywhere. I can play without unlimited smite and do just fine. Gives more wiggle room to use other abilities. Kind of gets boring being a one trick pony after awhile, but definitely fun 🤣

It's a bug and will be patched out thankfully.

Weapons are more dependent on your passive tree than vermintide. Psyker would be near unplayable with guns IF you don't go for a gunpsyker tree, hammer on zealot would be pretty lackluster without the proper setup, and let's not talk about combat blades without crit&bleed... Tbh, Vermintide is VERY lacking in player choice (be it weapon crafting of passive tree... If you can even call it like that), which is exatcly why CW was a success. It finally gave a semblance of player choice, hence made it the best mode to play in Vermintide, but I'm afraid this doesn't apply to Darktide. For now people seem to just want more map diversity (which is hard to bring in the hive city setting, but not impossible) and enemy diversity (which I already find more diverse than VT, especially if you don't count DLCs, but ok).

CW is in our opininon (myn gaming group) the prime game mode, and i dont really understand why they did not include it in the begining and built the game around that instead. This is ofc only our opinion and does not have to reflect yours. Vermintide 2 was(is) an amazing game, but CW was several times better. the thing i disagree with most is that CW gave people more talents to play with or player choice, i think its the randomness and the potential of buffs that made it great. how many times was there the right build for you to choose? Not sure this sort of game needs diversity in that way you are talking about from my view. even the maps that are different feel the same since its basically 99% gameplay that makes these games, not map structure. would be interesting to know how many people play QP vs choosing maps (if not maelstrom) I think CW embodied that more than any other game mode, its just try and solve this puzzle while you get attacked by 5000 enemies just my opinion

On a surface level Darktide is 'pretty much L4D In Space', but it is quite a lot more than that as you delve further in. Heck, I still call Mutants "Chargers" out of habit because of how similar they are in shape and how they act.
