I think what makes the vocal haunting is the amount of reverb they have in it. Although she is singing directly into a microphone, the audio is picking up the ambiance of the room she is in both her voice and the piano. .

Her voice is so pure, crystalline, precise that it can go down in volume to a whisper and continue to be defined and clear, always able to do acrobatics between notes without any apparent effort or risk of breaking her voice. And this has always, and still continues to make me speechless. Ashlena, when you have exhausted (!!!) the original songs, the covers, the live performances, the documentaries (not the interviews, you said it's not your genre [but if you changed your mind you'd see what kind of person Aurora is, a little already you can guess it from her songs]) how about AURORA with classical symphony orchestras? For example "AURORA goes Symphonic" - 2020, 37 minutes long.

With the amount of reverb in this performance I close my eyes and see Aurora as a siren sitting on a rock in the ocean, mist around her and sailors steering their ships towards her, unable to stop being drawn in. I understand/pay attention to lyrics and meaning much more in this cover and it sound amazing. This cover was made in short time (within a hour as far I know).

This was the first video I ever heard from her and I knew immediately that she was "different" and I was shocked at how beautiful her voice was. She could sing anything and I would love it.

Aurora's cover was indeed the first time I've heard Believer and God is a Woman. And I love them both. Up till today, I've never heard the original God Is A Woman because I just know I won't like it. I have heard Believer though, but I much prefer Aurora's version.

And I think I wrote it in one of my previous comments already, but I can't mention it often enough : Aurora was invited to this show "P3", where she should play a couple of original songs, as well as a cover of s song she hasn't heard or played before. So she chose "Believer", because - as you mentioned in the video - she likes dragons ! And the real challenge on this show is, that Aurora has been given only one hour time to prepare the cover and then play it live... and I think we both agree, Aurora did an AMAZING job... and yes, it's better than the original, much more beautiful... I always said that when it comes to covers, Aurora is a bit like King Midas. Everything she touches (musically) turns to gold. You want some more suiggestions for your upcoming Aurora tuesdays ? If you’re looking for the next Aurora reaction, I agree with some of the other commenters about the new song, “My Sails Are Set” from the Netflix “One Piece” show- I haven’t seen any other reactors looking at it yet. It is a collaboration with other writers who composed the song and lyrics, but she sings it as if it were her own. It’s not her “typical” style, but she smashes it. Also, since you’re now doing some more of her covers, I’d suggest all of these: La La La (Naughty Boy cover from 7 years ago -posted by One Little Warrior), Teardrop (Massive Attack cover on Like A Version), Rasputin (Boney M cover), and the GREAT cover of Life On Mars (David Bowie) on NRK from 7 years ago- a different vibe from the Nidarosdomen concert as she is accompanying herself on a Fender Rhodes electric piano. Lastly, her performance of Animal Soul (accompanying herself on a grand piano) at Verftet Online Festival 2020 is heartbreakingly gorgeous.

I think the story behind this performance, (a kind of task from Norwegian radio channel p3) was to give the artist 1 hour of preparation, before the performer (chooses a song from a number of options) then an hour later. sing the song. Aurora is not very familiar with music (doesn't listen to the radio much) so thought the name inmagon dragon sounded cool. didn't know this song before. the same was well and behavior with god is a woman sorry for my bad english

A cover that is better than the original is definitely "God is Woman". I had never heard the original, before hearing Aurora's version and when I finally heard it, it was a run of the mill pop song. Aurora essentially goes around and steals these songs, because after she does her version, there really is no need for the original.

I'm not a fan of imagine dragons and this song but in this case Aurora improves every cover she does and love this version. , but the best one is the Life on Mars cover, I still can't believe that Aurora manages to make it better than David Bowie. it sounds deeper, but above all she succeeds much better in conveying it and singing it more like a story and we are talking about David Bowie that Aurora has covered Aurora improves every cover she does, and how you comment on this cover is wonderful and moving to see
