Saturdays Down South hit different than anything else in life dude. I'm closing in on 5 decades of life, and there is NOTHING like a college football Saturday. It starts off the day before with a trip to the grocery store to get barbeque, burgers, hot dogs, beer, etc. On Saturday at 9A you find your spot on the couch and join up with ESPN College Gameday and you don't leave that spot until after midnight when the west coast teams finish up the day. The crowds, the cheers, the fight songs... we're already in countdown mode now until it kicks off again. I've just discovered your channel recently with your viewing of college football stadiums, and dude, watching them on TV or recorded on KZfaq... there's nothing like being on of those 100K screaming fans when your team plays it's biggest rival and pulls out the W.

Two old rivals in the conference. This is a rivalry game called the Third Saturday in October (played on that day obviously). Tennessee last won a national championship in 1998 and has not been very good since. Alabama has been a juggernaut for the last 12-15 years, winning several national championships and dominating Tennessee in this rivalry. This game was the first time in a long time Tennessee actually competed with Alabama and, as the announcer said, broke a 15 year losing streak. For Tennessee fans it was a HUGE win and marked the arrival of our team as a competitor in many, many years. That's why there were fireworks and chaos at the end.
@RoyAllenSanfordJr
@RoyAllenSanfordJr Ай бұрын
Yeah, cause when Bama wins it is just business as usual! That is why we don't have breakaway goal posts we just are used to winning the big game. Now when we lose the whole world seems to come to end for a lot fans, hahahaha!

@RoyAllenSanfordJr i mean that's literally what happens when your overall consistently dominant, had the roles been reversed Bama fans would have done the same exact thing (or something along the same lines), you don't win against a team for the first time in 15 years and just think "ah yes buisness as usual" no there's going to be extreme celebration ect lol such a dumb comment imo.
@jeffreytaylor6463
@jeffreytaylor6463 Ай бұрын
@@RoyAllenSanfordJr It wasn't that long ago when Alabama was a mediocre team. Up until 2008 and the Saban era, Alabama was a mid team with a few good seasons here and there. You probably need to get used to not winning as many games again. With Saban out, the NIL era and Texas and Oklahoma joining the SEC, I sense the era of Alabama dominance is over. Also, not sure if you are aware of this, Alabama and Tennessee are the all team records leaders in the SEC with a pretty close winning percentage. Alabama is .661 and Tennessee is .601. Georgia is third with .588. Looks like yall on course for a humbling spell like we had.

@spurksterly It's funny, but the big rivalry for Tennessee shifts every decade or so. The classic rivalry is Alabama (no other team has beaten Alabama more than Tennessee), but then Johnny Majors was fired because he couldn't beat Alabama, Fulmer then owned them but he couldn't beat Florida. Now it seems to be shifting to Georgia. It runs in streaks for schools, and it's rolling back around to be Tennessee's time at the top.

You also have to realize that this is Football in the South Eastern Conference. They're one of, if not the best conferences in all of NCAA football and have always produced high quality teams. I'd say about 50% of the players on the field at any given time go to the NFL after college because they're usually the best of the best, though there are definitely other schools that are contending for the top. No matter where you are in the US, you grow up near a college of some kind and this sort of passion for teams becomes ingrained in you early on, no matter how good that team is. I would HIGHLY recommend experiencing a game in person if you can. It truly is unlike anything you've ever experienced.

A couple things. The history matters. Alabama has been dominant over Tennessee (and the rest of football) for about 20 years. Any country song will tell you about how much Alabama is hated by Tennessee fans. 2. The crowd is supposed to be as noisy as possible when the other team has the ball so they can not audible (change play, move players) while on the field

You should definitely check out Oklahoma vs Texas in 2023, uploaded by Wheels. • One of the Top 3 rivalries in college football. (And it's not 3rd) • It's played on a neutral field exactly halfway between both universities. • The stadium is split 50/50 between Oklahoma fans and Texas fans. Roughly 100,000 fans. • The Texas state fair is occurring outside of the stadium with hundreds of thousands attending. • For about the last 10 years, almost every game has been decided by one score. • The 2020, 2021, and 2023 games were insane. • It's traditionally called "The Red River Shootout", but they rebranded/censored it to "Red River Rivalry." 🙄

One thing about American Football that is very unique is "The 12th man". 11 players on the field for each team and when the home team has the ball the fans will be extremely quiet before and during plays only making noise when something great happens. When the visiting team has the ball the 12th man takes the field with the 11 home team defensive players. A huge part of Football is disguising what you are doing while trying to figure out what the other team is doing. That is why there is so much time between plays. The defense is "reading" the personnel and positioning of the offense while the Quarterback is reading the defense the same way. When a receiver runs across the field for no reason he is actually letting his Quarterback know if the Defense is playing man to man pass coverage or Zone. Both teams can and will call "Audible's" which means a player on the field saw something he didn't like and changed the play the coaches sent in because of it. The Quarterback is usually exclusively in charge of offensive audibles, where as the Middle Line Backer in a 3-4 defense or one of the inside linebackers in a 4-3 defense is best positioned to be heard by the entire team when he changes the play. Now back to the 12th man. Every loyal home fan in the stadium will cheer as loudly as possible while making any other noise they can manage(cow bells, air horns, smashing your arm against the seat back so it behaves like a drum) while the visitors have the ball. If you make enough noise they have to stop speaking their changes and communicate by signals and sigh language. If the visiting offense does something good the crowd immediately shuts up and there is a eerie silence until they approach the line again to line up in formation for the next play. Some teams fans are better at it than others, in the NFL the Seattle Seahawks fans made so much noise on a goal line stand once it registered on local seismographs as a minor earthquake. Some times the visiting offense will be so confused trying to change a play they will have to call one of their 3 time outs to avoid a five yard delay of game penalty because the 25 second play clock ran out. Nothing pleases the fans more than stealing a time out from the visitors, the next play is always louder. I have been inside an NFL stadium when the crowd noise was so loud I could not hear my own voice yelling inside my head above the rest of the crowd. There was so much sound coming in to my ears the sound being generated inside my head was inaudible. I was horse and replying to every question with "What?" for a week.

These condensed game reels are what you need to watch to learn about the game. Ask a lot of questions. There are is two clocks running. One timing the game and another for game play. A third is implied to show delay of game.

Funny enough there actually is another big orange T for the University of Texas Longhorns, and this year they are switching conferences from the Big 12 to the SEC which is the conference Tennessee is in.😂

Clarififcation of a rule for you, in football, only the ball must cross the plane of the goal line for a touchdown to score

I was there in my regular seat that I've had since 1985. I don't smoke, but I sensed the win, so I took two cigars to the game. Chewed on a cigar for 2 days. If you're ever at a game, come see me at Neyland - Section X5 Row 15 Seat 5. Missed only 2 home games since '85.

They actually hit 50+ yard field goals pretty regularly. Close to 50% I would guess.

Reminder you don't have to cross the goalline, if just a mm of the ball crosses the line it's a touchdown.

I'm from the midwest [Indiana], in a state where until the late 90s/early 2000s when the Colts got Peyton Manning and became really good was by and large 90% basketball fans. High school basketball is huge in Indiana, as were the Indiana mens team at the time [still to a degree]. Literally almost every single house in Indiana has some type of hoop to shoot on outside. Whether it be a normal basket, a nice one built into concrete in the suburbs, or one without a net nailed up to a barn [very common], they are everywhere. I grew up a huge basketball fan obviously, but my dad grew up in Texas and infected me with the football bug also. When I was 8 we drafted Peyton. He was our QB until I was 21. To say I grew up with the guy basically would be pretty true. I say all that to say this - I love football, and if you love it as much as I do, there's nothing like Saturdays in the fall in the south. I plan on moving to the deep south when I'm able, just so I can live around others who share my love for the sport. It's really a lifestyle down there. Despite how much I love basketball and how popular it is here, nothing compares to football.

This looks a lot like the Alabama vs Tennessee 2022 game. Since our man can see the future, I'm placing a wager with my life savings in Vegas tomorrow.

The fans were so elated they rushed the field tore down the goalposts and threw them in the Tennessee River. Goalposts weigh about 500 lbs. In addition, beating Alabama is a big deal. Alabama is consistently one of the best teams in College Football. There was that game that went to 7 OT. I think it was LSU and Texas Tech.

You need to do a reaction video to all that took place from the moment this broadcast ended. The post game celebration on the field was an all timer!

🍊🍊Go Big 🍊🍊 Lots of fans can’t remember back to the mid 90’s and mid 2000’s. From 1995-2006 Tennessee won 10 of the 12 against the Tide during that span. We won 7 in a row from 95-2001. The all time series record was 44-37 in Bama’s favor after Tennessee’s win in 2001. The Tide hired Saban in 2006 and preceded to win 16 of the next 17, including 15 in a row making it what it is today 60 wins by the Tide and 38 by Tennessee. It hasn’t always been this one sided. Folks 18 yrs old have only seen Tennessee win 1 against Bama. We just went thru the worst stretch in our history. We were 2nd all time in all time SEC Championships with 13. Winning our last one in 1998. We still rank 3rd all time in SEC titles won. Alabama has won 30 SEC titles, 10 since we last won one. Ga has won 14, 4 since we last won one. LSU has 12 titles, 5 since we last won one. We are 252 - 119 since 2002. In the years prior to 2002 if we counted how long it took to loose 119 games, it took 48 years. From 2001-1963 we lost 118 games. We are ranked 11 all time in wins our all time record being 876-414-53 one spot behind Ga which was well behind us before our slide. We were ranked 7th all time in 2002 in all time wins. I write all this saying be careful what you wish for. One bad hire and before you know it 20 years has passed and it might not be real peachy! LOL Good luck all!! But mostly to the Big Orange!! 🍊 🤷‍♂️

This is one of the oldest rivalries in SEC football just has been insanely one sided during the saban era. Overlooked by a lot of college football fans but very historic.

This was a “great” game, though tough as a Bama fan. We did so many things wrong on that day. But, this was our only loss under a Nick Saban led team, so Vols enjoy this one, we’ll enjoy the memories for the last decade and a half!!😂😂😂. Roll Tide!!!!

Watch the game again. One of the TD's called back on Bama for holding, Tennessee had 12 men on the field. Home cookin' the entire game.
