It’s not a heat issue. It’s a power issue. You need a better power supply. Just had this happen. Exact same symptoms. Thought it was heat at first but temps were always completely fine. Upgraded my power supply and haven’t had a problem since 👍🏽

Instant shut off is almost always a heat issue. Modern hardware a lot of times has built in sensors to force shut off if it gets critically overheated.

There is actually a huge trend of just mass English farms in imperial and then flood with MAA and rams because you can just pump constantly into the enemy base, only reason why it didn’t work here was because he never actually got into his base he just kept directly fighting the ottoman army

what a miracle that such a greedy imperial age up is not punished and that you can hold out so long with only gunmen against xbow and jassiary and mangonells. It's a bit broken with the supposedly good counter system in age 4, you can play all the counter units against men at arms and it still doesn't really work.

That stone/gold RNG discrepancy sucks, it's more than the 50w, its also idle time, walk time and the simple flexibility between switching res. Hopefully it's eventually patched out. Along with a lot of the bad RNG across maps, like altai with no flank paths through the mountain

this game seriously needs to not have the timer on the sacred sites reset when control is lost. Otherwise back and forth boring imperial gameplay takes over and shit can last for 1hr+ potentially.

hey man so your gpu issue. i ran into a similar issue with my 4090 thought it was the 12vpwhr cable but it was the driver messing with my asus z790 mobo. Updating bios fixed all the issues. might work for you also.

The issue with your GPU sounds exactly the same as what my friend had. His PC would do the same thing playing AoE 4 and only AoE 4. No other game caused it. It was an issue with the GPU and he got it replaced from warranty but I guess something in this game just causes some weird strain on the GPU.

Could be a power supply issue - that'd be my next troubleshooting step.

English doesen't need imperial just go age 2 or 3 and constantly harrass enemy vils with longbow and maa. nevertheless great video.

Drongo, I had the same issue with my PC years ago and I found that the power draw from the wall was tripping something. Check if the missus is using the hairdryer at the same time from the same circuit in the house. It saved me replacing my GPU, MoBo and PSU.

Formatting is the nuclear option and probably not necessary. I agree with your mate it sounds like GPU. Try a GPU software that lets you set your fan speeds. I use GPU tweak. I think it's Asus. But anything with that capability would do and just create a profile with a higher rpm for your fans. I've also had that issue before and fixed it by reseating the video card. Just take it out and put it back in again making better connection to the board. These modern big GPUs are heavy and the constant vibration can wiggle them a little loose sometimes. Cheers.

I had the exact same issue but it was a dying PSU that was the problem. Other syptoms of it being PSU include it shutting down after black screening and your usb devices disconnecting.

Not sure if the ranged defensive upgrade saved the bombards from the springalds shots but I would imagine it should apply.

@AussieDrongo Had a similar issue with my GPU (video output would die until I restarted). Only happened with AOE4. I had to tweak settings to undervolt the card. That fixed it.

Drongo, if pc is just switchng straight off ( no blue scree) its probably PSU. Try a new one, if same problem, could be gpu ... but normally when they crash they just restart without turning pc off. Keep us update!

There is a ccustom game in starcraft where you produce units and all the units meet at the middle. Something like tower defence with units.

Drongo, when’s the last time u dedusted ur fans and hardware in ur computer? Maybe you have some dust settle on fans or something causing it to heat up

Great video Drongo! Also, formatting is absolutely unnecessary for your GPU unless you have corrupted drivers. Try cleaning your GPU fans or investigate your computer's ventilation. Also, try updating your GPU to its latest drivers.

Is your PSU ok Drongo? Older units aren't built with big power spikes in mind and your beefy GPU might trigger overcurrent protection.

I had a similar issue with my pc… Pc just forced turned off after playing aoe for 5 minutes. I cleaned out the dust inside my computer case, power supply and eventually applied new thermal paste to my cpu. It’s working flawlessly since then.

Drongo check your gpu pins haven’t short circuited it’s common on 4090s my mates Asus did it and he got it replaced through Asus warranty… The fans on 100% and black screens are an inbuilt safety precaution now

I have to say I don’t like these fast imperial games. I hate playing with and against them, and I don’t think they’re too healthy for the game. Very little interaction between 2 civs for 15ish minutes is a bit too long for things to ramp up.

He only makes maa, lame strat, he should have gone for horsemen with the maa

When the English wins battles - he shouldn’t use his forces pushing them forward - get forward towers - superior numbers of springers and at last 1-3 trebs.

To me it sounds like a PSU problem and PSU is also most common component to die in my experience.
