Durian fall from trees when they are ripe. When daytime temperatures are hot, the fruit ripens quickly and falls to the ground at night.

@@adventureswithtoyahandmurray Thais prefer a almost ripe and a harder texture and is not as sweet. Also weighs about 10% more and does not have that strong durian smell when plucked. Malaysians (and Singaporeans) prefer a ripe durian which is sweeter with a softer texture and don't give a damn the extreme strong smell of a ripe durian.

If you like to know more on culture and history of Sultan (King) in Malaysia, You can visit Kuala Kangsar town and you can drive around King Palace (Modern Palace) area. And there is also old palace (same area) if you want to see it closer what it is look alike. The Istana Kenangan (Jawi script: ايستان كنڠن; Remembrance Palace) which today houses the Perak Royal Museum, was a royal residence in Kuala Kangsar in Perak, Malaysia.

That sounds very interesting, we are heading down the west coast from Port Dickson towards Johor now, then we will drive up the east coast towards Thailand and after we drive around Thailand, Cambodia and Laos we will head back down that way, so we would love to check it out, but it will be several months before we get there, so stay tuned 😂

Isn't it hard to be Vegatarian in Malaysia? Not many veg restaurant, and much more hard to find at rural area. Some vegatarian restaurat are much more exspensive than normal restaurant, just like your last one. So it would be better cook by yourself right? I do read about vegan vs vegetarian vs pescatarian tho.

We are vegans, so we don’t eat any animal products, which makes it harder than for vegetarians. Actually there are many Chinese vegetarian restaurants that are mostly vegan, only some of them serve a few egg dishes, but most are pure vegan, the restaurant we went to in the Cameron Highlands was by far the most expensive one we have been to in Malaysia and Asia, most of the Chinese vegetarian restaurants have very low prices. Most medium sized towns usually have at least one vegetarian restaurant, places like Ipoh, Taiping, KL have many vegetarian Chinese restaurants and other types of vegetarian restaurants too. Check out our vegan food in Ipoh video and our Taiping video, we filmed lots of great affordable restaurants there 😊
