This is not Korean pop. Not every Asian that brings out music is kpop lol.. Jungkook (BTS) brings out every genre of music.

Weird when people are like “I’m ready to try not to like it” with Korean artists. Like, really? You’re gonna dismiss so much good music for what and for who? Do people think it’s cool to hate on every single popular thing still, or anything different from US charts? And not everything popular in Korea is “idol k pop” and shallow/generic. They made their own lanes and have outsold/gained more fans than so many western artists. Members of BTS are truly one of the only groups I know who have consistently made amazing music without always sounding the same or sticking to one genre or subject. You’re missing out if you’re not coming in with open minds and just appreciating music. It’s about how the lyrics and songs make you feel, not what other people assume about them. Or what you think you should say to sound “too cool” to admit BTS members are straight talented. Stop sleeping. This group has some of the best vocalists, rappers, and albums I’ve ever heard. And that’s not even mentioning their live performances.

For BTS Hip Hop kinda music, there’s are songs like - Mic Drop, Run and more. The most popular songs are - On, Boy in Luv, Fake Love, Black Swan, DNA utc… For English songs - Dynamite, Butter and Permission To dance which are pretty popular for western listeners but I hope you will get to know them more and can try to dive deeper into their music with deeper stories behind the music they make since they pretty much paved their way to the top with their talent and voice for honest lyrics and feelings how they struggled the first years when they debuted. Ok, as others said, this is very much not K-pop but American pop - just performed by a Korean artist. This song was a homage to MJ, so it makes sense that it seems "copied" because it is heavily inspired by MJ. It was written and produced by Americans. Although, K-pop was inspired a lot by American music in general. If you want to listen to "K-pop" from BTS, avoid their English trilogy (Dynamite, Butter and Permission to Dance). They are great songs but completely in English and mostly written by English-speaking producers and songwriters. They are some of the only songs BTS members didn't take part in writing or producing (except Butter - RM took part in it) Also, JK is indeed a member of BTS - he is their main vocalist. They are not only the biggest K-pop group but the biggest group in the world. BTS stands for 방탄소년단 (Bangtan Sonyeondan). They are a 7-member group with 3 rappers and 4 vocalists. They debuted in 2013 and are currently on a hiatus to complete their mandatory military service (the oldest finished a few days ago) but still release music as soloists. They write, compose and produce their music along with their in-house producers. They come from a very small label and reached the top without industry support. They shine because of their good music, meaningful lyrics, incredible live performances and their humble and caring personalities. They all are extremely successful soloists as well, experimenting with different styles just like they do with BTS. If you want to listen to K-rappers you can listen to RM, Agust D (SUGA in BTS) and j-hope. The BTS Rap Line is the best in the K-pop industry but their vocalists (Jin, Jimin, V and Jung Kook) are just as good If you want to learn more about them you could watch Boracity Magazine's video essays. They are well-researched and really interesting to know more about the music industry If you check out some of their Korean music, you should pull out Doolset's translation on the side. They are accurate translations and give context and cultural references that you won't get. Their lyrics are a huge part of their success so it would be great if you took the extra step! I could tell you more but this is already a lot, haha. I hope you guys will enjoy their music

Yes jungkook is a part of BTS he's the youngest out all seven members and has the Fandom name army tattoo on his knuckles. All 7 members are now serving their mandatory military service in the korean military. And will be all back in 2025. We can't wait for their return. if you were looking for something different with Korean rap, JK's bandmate RM released a critically acclaimed new album about a month ago called "Right Place, Wrong Person" that has five MVs from songs on the album. BTS as a group also incorporates rap in almost all of their songs, because they have 3 rappers and four vocalists in the group. JK himself is a sub-rapper and a main vocalist of the group. One comment - going into BTS with the attitude of "I thought I was going to be listening to some Korean shit" isn't exactly great. BTS are known for their deep and meaningful lyrics that touch on issues like mental health, societal issues, the need to love oneself, etc...and yes, they largely do it in Korean because that's their native language. RM speaks English fluently, but the rest are learning and are at various levels of ability to speak it (I think most can pick up a fair amount of what they hear, but speaking a language that is not your own is always harder). JK's purpose with his album "Golden" was to reach towards his goal of being the only artist to be a top artist in both K-pop and [western] Pop. The whole album is in English, and it was written and produced by western writers/producers. JK chose all of the songs for the album, but while he does write/produce songs for BTS and for himself (such as his latest single "Never Let Go" released a couple of weeks ago), he didn't write/produce this one.
