Great content. Enjoyed the video. You are both right. The boats are being rowed. The definition is , if you have one oar , you are rowing. If you use two oars , you are sculling.

When Texas was needing a capitol building, 4 business men from Chicago made the legislature an offer to build the capitol in exchange for 3 million acres on Llano Estacado where they began the XIT ranch. XIT stands for "10 in Texas" because it covered 10 counties. In case you needed a tidbit of info here.

12:39 Sculling is rowing with 2 oars, sweeping is where each rower has 1 oar. Both are types of rowing. Sure is beautiful in Texas.

Six Flags over Texas in Dallas was a great amusement park in the early sixties it wasn't just about rollercoasters and rides it was 6 different areas one for each flag. The best was the Texas area where you rode in a stagecoach to get to the western town and watched a cowboy shoot out at the Longhorn saloon and other exhibitions. Very different from todays 6 Flags parks.

bobbys got a lot of history, but not 100% accurate. There is a painting in the capital of texas of Sam Houston the President of Texas meeting with Santa Anna after the battle of san jacinto where texians kicked mexico's butt in a battle, and they did NOT KILL SANTA ANNA. Santa Anna, the general was also the president of Mexico so Sam Houston actually had to intervene twice to prevent Santa Anna from being killed, and returned to Mexico. He got Santa back to mexico somewhat safely, and returned the army, and that act somewhat ensured that the country of texas would not be invaded again. The country of Texas had to sign a protection deal with England because Mexico was threatening them, but the army of Mexico never came back.

bobby knows some but not all of texas history. It is an important point that General and PRESIDENT santa anna was not killed at san Jacinto. Sam Houston was an educated man, so he stopped his army from killing santa anna more than once and made sure he made it back to Mexico because Santa Anna was the president of Mexico. If Santa anna returns, then he has to recognize texas as a country. Before texas was just a coupe settlements. Legally texas was a colony of spain, alongside mexico, so mexico won its independence, then lost texas. Santa Anna left office in disgrace, moved to new york city, and conducted the business deal that brought chicklets gum to the USA. No shtt. Its actually super weird that NYC was like that, but Texas knows that all they do in New York is hore out to whoever has money regardless if they ordered the deaths of Texas prisoners in Goliad.... as santa anna did

While rowing is often the go-to terminology to encompass the sport, rowing often only refers to sweep rowing. Instead of using one oar like they would in sweep rowing, athletes may opt to compete in sculling events where they use two oars - one in each hand.

There is a debate about the number of fighters at the Alamo. 186 seems to be the agreed upon number, but I have heard up to 220 as well. I first went to the Capital in Austn in 1966 as part of a school trip from San Antonio. It looks pretty much the same in your video. I don't go to Austin very much except to pass through. You are right about the traffic. It is terrible going through there on I-35. So terrible, you might as well stop and have lunch LOL. Maybe that was Austins plan all along LOL. They didn't execute Santa Ana Bobby. They actually let him go and he went back to Mexico. He was elected president of Mexico I believe twice. He was missing a leg when he attacked the Alamo from a previous battle as well. One more tid-bit is before the battle, the Mexicans played the tune El Deguello night and day to indicate the defenders would receive "no quarter". Everyone would die.

every day a local austin business gives up and sells out. Most of the 1970's one of a kind businesses simply close their doors and sell the land their busienss sits on and they retire. The charm of austin is the local businesses. Dominoes tried to open a chain pizza in austin but nobody ever ordered any because everyone there goes to austin pizza, or south side pizza, or south congress? pizza? The charming small town austin is 80% gone

Austin Texas is a hell hole! In the last 3 years crime has jumped 300%. Trash and homeless every where especially in the downtown area around 6th street. The only positive about Austin Texas is the live music scene is still very good at times. Everything else about the city is absolute trash! Real Estate high, Crime high, Traffic horrific (the worse in the state), Taxes high, Homeless high, Drugs high.. Every bad thing about a city you could think of is there in Austin Texas. What's even more surprising is that Austin is not even half the size of the Dallas or Houston metroplex's. The city is a trash can!

Can we brush up Glamping on some texas history? Thanks. So Sam Houston was running the show. Sam brought settlers to Texas, he was the commander of the army, and president, so when san antonio/alamo happened, sam retreated back to san Jacinto in a fake out to make it look like he was surrendering toward US protection, as well as he waited until the river trapped both armies. So General Santa anna died in the United States, but not how you think. Santa Anna was captured at the battle of San Jacinto, but sam the president of Texas understood what it means when you capture the president of another country, so they DID NOT KILL SANTA ANNA. Initially the soldiers wanted to kill santa anna, but Sam houston stopped them because there was something more important. So Sam Houston returned Santa Anna and his armies to Mexico in exchange for an agreement that the land was texas, and they were not going to invade texas anymore. Sam Houston eventually had to sign a protection agreement with ENGLAND because Santa Anna did not honor his word, and continued to threaten the country of texas with invasion. The battle cry at san Jacinto was "remember the alamo and goliad" because Santa Anna had executed prisoners of war, and there actually were a few prisoners from Goliad who had run off into the trees to avoid execution, and did actually fight at the battle of san jacinto. Thats a real tough MFer lesson in history first hand to escape mass execution and actually be part of the retribution battle. And Santa Anna died in the United States. He was rejected from Mexico after his presidency and he moved to the USA and brought chicklets gum to the USA. No fckn joke. Chicklets gum came to the USA in a business deal with the guy who killed off the Alamo, and ordered the mass execution of goliad.
