Ayyy thanks man! Yeah great bike and I think I will get it tuned even though AR says the tune isn't neccessary. It's just so loud man don't throw away the db killer if you get this exhaust! Happy riding!🔥

I got a 2017 z900 last summer and love it. It is so easy to ride but has awesome power. Very comfortable seating position but the seat is a bit hard. I also have a 2003 buell xb9s and it's super torquay but I love it too, it's a great bike for wheelies. Need a exhaust for the z900. My buell has a Harley engine and factory racing exhaust so it sounds awesome already. Ur z900 sounds awesome. 👍🏼

Dude thank you! Still haven't gotten aftermarket header pipes or an ECU Flash, def happening in the future and will make an update vid. I totally agree the seating position is confmy, I had a 2019 Z900 also noticed slight peg height differences or something! Dang 2003 Buell that's awesome I'd like to ride one of those in the future🤙

I love your enthusiasm. Hopefully you still own it. I have a '22 black and blue Z900. I love this thing, even with stock exhaust. I bought a '22 Z900RS so my brother could ride with me. Actually, we went in halves. Now he's not sure if he's into riding. Now , I'm stuck with two Z900's. But what the hell.The RS has a really nice sound, but the Z has the better engine IMO. RS more comfy, but handles great. Ride safe. Long live Z900's!

@@GoGoober Thanks for the reply.. If you want to see a Z900 i action with basic mods, watch Chris on BikeWorld. youtube. I don't know how to direct to exact video, but it says Chris gets racy, etc. Kawasaki set this bike up, he never rode it or the track, and he still kicked ass. Up against Speed Triples, R6s etc. and still took their scalps. Fun to watch.

@@GoGoober I’ll definitely put up a video once I get the bike back from winter storage. So far all that done to it right now is a Full Akrapovic full system TST taillight New windscreen Led lighting But I’m planning on getting frame sliders, bar end mirrors and a couple more things done to it!!

Been looking at getting into something bigger to grow into i guess you could say. Currently on a Honda CB300R but been looking into MT-09s and these Z900s also. Any opinions or what to look for in them?

Z900 has a low and full power mode and was definitely nice when just getting used to the bike. MT09 is lighter but my friend had to get a steering stabilizer it would wobble at high speeds 2018 model, love that bike too! 2021 MT09-SP is like a nearly perfect middleweight bike so fun to ride. Also I did keep my DRZ400SM for track days and parking lot practice, I'm worried about dropping my beautiful Z900 (I still practice either it but push it harder on my drz) Check out what my mentor says about upgrading! kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gJudorBqtr-thI0.html

One question; when you do a de-cat mod like this, typically you are also required to do some fuel mapping or you run the risk of running over lean. So the Power Commander is an important addition. Sadly, here in Cali it’s illegal…..

Austin Racing says it doesn't need to be tuned but every mechanic I talk to says it's a good idea to. Plus this cat isn't fully out onlu part of it got cut out so maybe that's why? I'll make a desicion soon!

@@GoGoober well first of all the cat is still on the bike all he did was take out the muffler there is 2 mufflers on most bikes the first one burns most of the un burned fuel and the 2end one is just a big ass silencer but is called a muffler and ya you should get a power commander or a ecu flash because the back fire you here is because bike is leaned out add more fuel and the takes care of that.

Ayyy it's an amazing exhaust, they say it doesn't need to be tuned but I would recommend it as well as an upgraded air filter👌

Sounds so sweet !!! Did you switch the. rear tire with the stock size 180-55-17 to something bigger ..? I switched mine to a 190-50-17 , I’ve herd on forums that some switched to a 190-55-17 for better grip ...🤷🏻‍♂️ idk I’ve herd most people think it’s stupid to switch the OE specs , but when I switched out for the 190-50-17 , it definitely felt more confidence inspiring ... but we’re talking about stock OE DUNLOPS to brand new s22’s , anyhow what tires you rocking ...???

Just picked up Total Control by Lee Parks it's talks about this. Essentially the size of the tire affects traction and also handling. Larger wheel/tire combos on a bike = better traction but the ease of steering gets worse. That being said the tire size that provides the best handling isn't always the STOCK size. My Dunlop Q3+ tires are 120/70 front 180/55 rear! Thanks for watching!

There r trade offs when u change tire sizes, and should depend on your purpose. Bigger tire size, does have more contact patch, which means more road friction. With all other things being equal, bigger tires require more hp to maintain the same speed. Also bigger tires have less weight loading, when all other things are unchanged. This means, the bigger tire are more prone to slip under faster acceleration bcuz of the lighter weight loading. OEM has the better general compromise in performances. I normally advise riders 2 determine their purposes b4 changing from oem. Anyway, ride safe, god bless u all.

My mechanic cut through the midpipe and slipped this one on! It doesn't fully remove the cat btw. Sound still amazes me almost a year later

Nice video! It seems like though the bike lost low end torque with this mod. I know it isn't a full system but from what I've read taking the cats and bread box off really causes low end torque loss and even with a tune it won't be restored. Did you notice a change?

Start thinking about a full exhaust if you want the power gains and drop some excess weight. Do you have the gp3 also? Next time I ride I'll feel for that seems the same in terms of vibration! AR says you don't need a tune but that would be wise and also an ecu flash woukd solve that engine issue, my throttle isn't super smooth I'm still riding it without doing a tune

Not sure if anyone has asked before but did you need to remap your bike after changing the exhaust? Also did you drill and remove the car from the inside or just cut it and slip it on. Did it change how the bike rides at all? Thanks🤟🏼🤟🏼

I will be tuning it soon to smooth out the throttle on the bike! AR says it doesn't need a tune after but everyone I've talked to says you should after you change the exhaust so up to you! I misheard my mechanic I thought he removed it completely but only partially. Looking to get a header pipe to fully decat. AR also says it decats the bike so false advertising I guess haha!

@@GoGooberthanks for the reply. Everyone I speak to says you need to tune it as well, but if I do that I void my warranty which I don’t want to do as it’s a brand new bike. It’s the best sounding exhaust so I really want to go for it! Long as it still runs smooth without a tune I’m definitely getting it. 👍🏼👍🏼

@@liamw8602 yessir it does! Side note for my bike the stock battery pooped out on me it wouldn't even hold a charge anymore and noticed power delivery problems. It also didn't help that my commute every day is like 5min haha. I'm looking a lithium ion battery upgrade! Literally have my friends battery from his old bike in mine right now from his old ninja

Yeah this doesn't get rid of your catalytic converter. This pipe is installed right behind it. But my question is does it feel like it lost some low end torque and will it need a tune even tho you still have your cat on.

Thanks man yeah you're right! AR says it decats the bike and it only partially removes it. And no I still power wheelie fine but will be tuning anyway and the things pops like crazy! Which was more fun at first but looking to get the ECU flashed to smooth some of that out. Thanks for watching!

Is the load complete or just the terminal? Is it approved for exhaust or not? To make it sound like this did you remove the db killer or not?

No db killer, also it really just removed the breadbox. Technically, part of the cat is still in there which is easily taken care of if you change the stock headers too. Check the sizing on the website because it's different for EU vs USA. Thanks for watching hope that helps!

Niiiccee!! Dude thank you- btw I hear the Z650 ain't much more fun than the z400. When you upgrade get the Z900 and put it in low power mode starting off! The Z900 is like a Cadillac compared to my DRZ400sm and my wife's mt03. Still want the $200 seat upgrade though!

@@Soepraa It's got better suspension! I would go for the regular Z900 if you wanted to budget and maybe upgrade the suspension later. I wish I could ride both and see!

What kind of riding are you doing? I'm just commuting and hitting the twisties/sweepers on the weekends and it's comfy and the torque is crazy fun! Yeah bigger bike is NOT always better, my wife loves her MT03 and it's a capable bike

That's right! This de-cat exhaust takes the cat out of the bag🐈 Edit: It's not fully out, my mechanic had me believe he also removed the rest of it.

Poked a stick through and felt it your right, could go with an aftermarket header soon. Couple things AR says it decats the bike and mentioned it to my mechanic thought he removed it completely not just partly. Either way video coming soon with new headers haha

The big box is not the cat converter, the cat is the straight pipe just before it

Yeah the cut was made on the straight pipe so some cat was removed I thought it was all of it. Time for new headers stay tuned!

It depends on the specific town ordinance. In some towns around where I live, they enforce a noise limit, usually around 92db. The AR exhausts get into the 100 - 103 db range. But who really worries about that anyways? And as far as the tune goes, AR says you don't need to, but if you're also swapping to a K&N or a BMC air filter, it wouldn't be a bad idea to do a tune.

do you mean gas consumption? If so can't remember a significant difference but I bet it did change. The cat is also not completely out, also feels like it's running lean, still haven't gotten that ECU flash which would help with the fuel mapping. Thanks for watching man!

Long story short, mechanic said he was gonna do a full decat, this pipe deletes the breadboard obviously and only SOME of the cat🤓 Honestly loud enough and have an ECU flash too, super happy with it after all these years. Thanks for watching!

Great question! Whatever you decide to buy is up to you, putting the z900 in low power mode could be fine. But I definitely recommend something In-between your 350cc and this 900cc for a while first. Test ride some bikes at Kawasaki or Yamaha events and you might find a Z650 or mt07 to be plenty!
