This is a huge test for the GU Patrol after a huge undertaking with the engine conversion and transmission! I am blown away with the how it performs in the sand and for a first trip it was trouble free! I really like that there’s a balance of cars and experience/ travelling. Im glad it’s not just a petrol head going to this beautiful place to chew up the sand and find the nearest muddy puddle.

Its not easy losing a family member, especialy you own mum or dad. As time passes it does get easier, just make sure to talk and not bottle up emotions. My dad also passed due to cancer 4 years now. I have regular blood test etc also to make sure i keep on top of me health etc. Wicked episode! Great to see the fam bam out. Be interesting to compare the 4jj patrol to an actuall modified 3.0ltr patrol. Seeing as the 4jj is highly modified. Camping setup is miint 👌 keeping is simple!

Loved the video, the Patrol is a weapon, so glad all that effort has been rewarded with an awesome rig.👍 Did Moreton once ourselves, no desire to rtn there. The sunsets over the western side were delightful though. Interestingly our vehicles accumulated a bright orange surface corrosion whilst on Moreton & the visit cost us two alternators, fortunately both where sourced from same distributor in Brisbane & freighted over for us, one Jackaroo, one Patrol. Weird, as we annually attend K'gari and don't suffer that surface discolouration, it was a bright orange, very pronounced once we departed Moreton against the blacktop of bitumen. Anyways, K'gari is so much better, the diversity in Flora & Fauna, fantastic facilities at resorts and villages, plus the resorts welcome you in. I can totally understand your attraction to go to Moreton though, as expressed in your tribute to your Mum, very touching.

I would love to get to Moreton Island, but the 2044km drive to get to Brisbane would kill me now, my wife and I drove Broken Hill to Maleny in 19 Hrsa few years ago, whenever one would get tired we’d swap drivers, safe as😊

Yellow patch and that whole northern stretch of the island is also worth a look. If u ever desperate for fuel the locals sell it but it’s expensive. There is also an oyster farm down near kooringal where u can buy fresh oysters if that’s your thing.
