Another week, another video! This time back out on the local systems in the kayak. I haven't been to this area since the floods earlier this year so it was good to get back into it and try for some local brutes! Enjoy!

Nice yak 😉 this system is looking good up there too. I believe I found more fish further downstream though, however the scenery is nicer up your way. I think they’re still making their way up the systems. I’ll try up this way in a month or so. I also saw a ridiculous amount of platypus where I fished, very cool. Your fish looked very healthy, they may be locals. The ones I got had fin damage from the floods (no infections fortunately), I reckon they weren’t local. This system will be receiving all those non-local fish soon, population will go up pretty quickly when they start swimming upstream…great season ahead of us I believe 😃

Nice little sesh mate. Don't knock the Dam fish 🤣 most of the fish in most of the locals have come from dam stocks over the years, that's why we have the awesome native fishery at our door.

Not knocking them at all! They pull some string too ;) based on the previous dam escapees I’ve seen they’ve had extensive injuries to their fins and undersides (maybe from falling and scraping in the flood water?) but these couple of specimens were quite plump and looking healthy!

@@dang.fishing I think there's something washed into the water mate cause fish in the dam have the same fin rot as well. It's pretty sad but can't be helped with the magnitude of flooding we got unfortunately. It's the price of agriculture. Hopefully it's not something more sinister and all the fish can recover 👌

cool vid mate .If you dont mind me asking what creek is that . I am not into fishing but an into exploring water systems in my touring kayaks .always looking for new potentual spots to paddle . going from your drone shots in the beginning it looks like an interesting paddle

Hey mate! It’s just a local creek here in Brisbane. If you jump onto Facebook and join the Kayaking Adventures SEQ group, a lot of people document their trips in the creeks. Hope this helps!

Mate it looks like the floods did it wonders. The most amount of bait I’ve ever seen in that stretch and the first time in a while I haven’t seen them with the fin damage. Heard good reports of the pools up and downstream too so looking very promising

I fished that system on Sunday landed 11 down steam bit further tho it has been producing some slabs lately, water has been a little dirty with that bit of rain and that rain did also shut them down last weekend.

@@dang.fishing ahahah yeah they can be a pest bass when fishing topwater for them. Have you tried down stream a lot more like past that concrete weir ?
