Жыл бұрынHAPPY HOLI 2023! Here's my experience as a foreign woman playing Holi in India in my first time in India. We visited Old Delhi to celebrate Holi with the locals and everything was safe and fun for us. Delhi can be unsafe for women, and we were warned about celebrating in the streets - ESPECIALLY in Old Delhi! But everyone was so nice and respectful - it was such a great day.
We played Holi with so many people in Delhi, India, and finished our day dancing to Indian music at a private Holi Festival party in New Delhi, India 2023.
I had an amazing time for my first ever Holi Festival experience in India!

She is not abandoned.. she is a pet of hotel staffs they are staying in. Every street dog in India is adopted by humans in someway or other. No one goes hungry and they love the adventure of living on the streets.

Actual story is different …. Read about hiranyakasyup …… he want to kill his son because he was worshiping Vishnu avatar of god which he never like because his brother was killed by Vishnu Bhagwan …. So he hand over his son named prahlada to her sister name holika which have god blessing that she will not caught fire 🔥…. So she sat Prahlada in her lap and sit on log of fire but Prahlada survived and holika was burnt… so to commemorate the good over evil people of the kingdom celebrated the day and name become holika dahan(burn in fire) which over centuries convert to Holi….

Yes, apparently there are some fringe actors trying to malign our cultural festivals by fabricating fake stories. And there is another propaganda they are circulating among vulnerable people about Holika being a Dalit. She isn't a dalit, she is a Brahman and her father Rishi Kashyap and mother Diti was also a Brahman. Edit: This is kind of woke politics is very similar to the Identity Politics going on in USA. We can only make guesses who are behind such propaganda.

I’m very happy that you had a delightful experience. Most of the men are respectful to women. But, very rarely, some tourists end up having a bad experience because of some bad people. @@josieliftsthings wonderful. I saw your Instagram update on the “permanent color”😅😂 It’s the one they mixed with water before applying. I grew up using it every year. It remains for 2 to 3 days. It’s quite common and do not hesitate to roam around

Holi , also known as the festival of colours symbolises so many things 1.Start of spring season 2.Coming out after cold winters 3.Win of good over bad There is an interesting legend behind 3rd point where an evil king who told his people that he was a god so that they had to worship him too.This king had a son called Prahlad, who was as kind as his father was cruel , Prahlad was a devotee of Hindu god Vishnu which obviously meant a challenge to his father's notion of god himself . So one day his father became very angry of his son when he came to know that his son had been gifted a certain cloth(/bedsheet) by God for his devotion , the cloth can save anyone from fire provided he/she wrapped it around his/her body . So king ordered Prahlad to be killed , he told his sister Holika to wear this special cloth and sit in a fire with Prahlad . Holika would be safe because of cloth but Prahlad would die coz of fire but as he was a devotee of Vishnu he remembered him and suddenly a blowing wind came and the cloth went off from Holika and got on Prahlad , hence Prahlad was safe but Holika died . So "Holika" or the fire that is burnt on the eve of Holi symbolises victory of good over bad .

In Delhi they have proper Holi parties organized as well, like New Year Parties. You can google them. They have like swimming pools, showers and rain dance with colours. And they have drinks and food. You can search for it next year, and go there if you are in mood to have a hygienic holi with sober high class gentry.
