Australian Saddle James Saddlery Girth System and Stirrups explained.
This is called a camshaft girth system. It consists of a surcingle with a billet on the off side and a dee on the near side. It is used in conjunction with a campdraft girth, which has 2 buckles on the off side to take the billet attached to the saddle and the one on the surcingle. The near side has 2 buckles also. The billet on the saddle goes to the front buckle, and a strap on the girth goes up to and passes through the dee on the surcingle and back to the rear buckle on the girth. This is extremely strong and secure, If one strap breaks, you have a backup strap already in place. The stirrup leathers are 2 inch wide and lined with Web for extra strength and to prevent stretching on the near side where you get on and off all the time. The buckle is reversed, so the tongue of the buckle does not damage the saddle. We sell the systems separately, and you can call in at our work shop Paisley Drive, Lawnton, or call Trevor 0n 0429771448
