Short Australian Silky Terrier description:
The Australian Silky Terrier is slightly longer than tall dog breed with athletic build and average height between 23-26 cm which is 9-10 inches and weight between 3-5 kg which is 7-11 pounds. There are no big size differences between males and females.
This is not a lapdog, the Australian Silky Terrier will be always ready for any kind of an adventure. They are very playful and loving and they make good play companions for older kids. Silky Terriers are also very loyal and devoted to its family and he want to spend as much time with them as possible.

absolutely my favorite! grew up with an irish setter and never thought i could like a small dog. introduced to a silky 8 years ago from my then girlfriend (wife now) and I love him so much its crazy! seriously! He is mazing, the breed is amazing. smart, funny, loyal like no other. Silky'S are the BEST

my first dog is a silky terrier. she’s 11 now and we got her as a puppy. she is extremely healthy and hasn’t showed any signs of slowing down. she jumps off and on high surfaces, runs like crazy. super fast up and down the stairs… it’s like she’s still a puppy. she’s also a GREAT guard dog. any noise she hears she will alert us. she’s also extremely friendly and playful. she’s very intelligent and understands almost everything you say. it came to the point where she understood the spelling of “out” since we couldn’t say the word but she learned how to spell it also. i love her very much, i’ve never met another dog like her.

We rescued Lia 4 years ago when she was 13 yrs old. First time have ever owned a Silky terrier. She crossed on Jan 5 at 17 years of age. Long experience of dogs, mainly crossbreeds between collies and german shepards plus poodles when had family of my own. Our silky followed a perfect dog (toy poodle) that rescued from same league we rescued Lia from. Lia had us laughing every single day up until her last day. Highly recommend Silky Terriers!!! If was 5 years younger, would adopt another Silky in a heartbeat.

I love my silky Garnet , he’s unpredictable , protective, lively & friendly. He’s tail is navy blue an awesome 🤩

We've had our rescue Silky for almost 2 years, and we adore him. He's goofy, adorable, very bossy and a real velcro dog. He thinks he owns the entire neighborhood! He's a senior but still acts like a puppy.

@@Rocadog Both of our dogs are rescues. Our other guy is a 15-year-old Standard Yorkie who's been with us since he was 2. We don't know for sure how old our Silky is, because before we adopted him, he had to have all of his teeth pulled. :( "My little dog - a heartbeat at my feet." (Edith Wharton)

@@BillyMayDays Sure, if you want to. We keep ours at a medium length in winter, because if it's too short, he gets cold, and shorter in the summer.

Had my dog for 2 years now and couldn’t find out what she was bc I knew she wasn’t full yorkie. Now seeing this breed and the traits this is 100% her.

I have BRUNO my silky. He is my loyal shadow. I rescued him from an over flown ditch full of water durning a flood here in Houston. But In all honesty he rescued ME. :)

Thank you for mentioning they are NOT lap dogs and do not like to cuddle. I was disappointed about that after I got my male 17 years ago. But he is doing well and I love him very much. I had dachshunds for previous dogs and loved them too.

My silky also loved to race outside by running between my legs and the door! So when he was younger I had a lot of chasing him down with a leash!

For the longest time i thought i had a Yorkshire Terrier, but most people always questioned her breed (as she weighs 5kg and is a lot bigger then a Yorkie, her nose is quite long too). So i did a bit of digging and got in touch with a few professional Silky Terrier breeders and showed pictures of Ruby, they said 100% she is a Silky Terrier 😁👍

We rescued our little Bailey and he is fierce! He’s lovable, playful, excited, funny, sweet and definitely thinks he’s a big dog. He plays with his 80 lb sisters like he’s their size. He has no fear!!! I’ve never had a pure breed dog. He is just precious and we love him…except when he kills chameleons and lizards…we feel sad for them! We call him Chameleon Killer

I love my silky. I would say that his loyalty is better than any other breed I've had. He has his own personality, and will defend the house against the evil paper villains while we are gone lol. His favorite past time is chasing the rabbits and birds away from his area. As far as friends, the neighbor's pitty is probably the closest thing he has to a dog friend. For a while he thought he was a cat because we had two when he was a puppy, and they taught him certain things. Overall, I would definitely get this breed again.

We have this dog! He is so awesome and so loving. Only one thing! Beware! They have a ton of energy and they are like the energizer bunny! They will run into the ground and wear you out. We wouldn’t want any other way though, he’s family!!!

Got my Yorkie from a family in my neighborhood. His papers say Yorkie but he just turned one and he is 11 inches tall and weighs 10 lbs. He has a longer snout but not as long as the ones in this video. I wonder if he is a Yorkie and a silky. Or just a little more silky than Yorkie? Lol

Exactly the same here, but my dog Ruby has all the look of a Silky Terrier. She's 11Ibs, has quite a long nose, stocky build etc. And a few professional breeders of Silky Terriers said she is definitely a Silky 👍
