This video covers coral care tips for Australophyllia. This LPS used to be known as Symphyllia wilsoni. It is a coral found in western Australia and makes for a great show piece in mixed reefs for those looking for an uncommon coral that looks like both a maze brain and a trachy.

I have a few in my collection. a buddy of mine works at a collector in Western Australia so hes always sending me all sorts of sexy wilsoni. im surprised my wife hasnt divorced me yet lol

I bought a beautiful one of these last week that was being sold as a Symphyllia, I knew it was actually something I hadn't seen before so it came home with me & you've just saved me a few hours of Googling. Perfect timing cheers!!!

I recently purchased a coral that was labeled as a symphyllia, however it doesnt look like the ones youre showing here, howeevr it has just about every color in the rainbow

Most Wilsoni in the market are cold water species slowly acclimated to higher temperature by the collectors. All the specimens shown in this video were cold water samples. Their color shifts dramatically under different lights, even more so than Lords. Bluer lights tend to bring out more warm colors from my experience. They are voracious eaters but can survive without food under strong lights. It's relatively easy to bring out rainbow colors if you keep them under lower PAR. The higher the PAR, the more homogeneous the colors.

I have been researching this coral for a couple years. My local reef store is able to get these. They are quite beautiful. Def on my bucket list of corals to add. Thank you for the video!

I love all the brain corals. These are definitely one of my favorites. As soon as I’m home for a longer stent, I plan on getting some more.

Great genus! I just got one for a month (France), it eats well and seems to do well utn. Kept atm around 77°F (25°C), with main color being turquoise reticulated with rusted orange (light colored kind)... Indeed a beautifull animal! I'll do my best to make him grow in good conditions. Thanks A LOT for covering it, and especially pointing the T° aspect of its maintenance. Great info in my case! :D
