Really got stuck into this flying series. What strikes me about your videos is that you never have any “trolls” posting in the comments section trashing you or your actions as a pilot, which I think is testament to your skills and your honest approach. Love the banter between you and Alistair.

As long as I’ve lived 21 years in Manchester (although nearer to Liverpool), I’ve always wanted to go in a PA 28 or similar home to Ireland via Dublin and similar Irish airfields - when I lived in Ireland, I’d went from Dublin Weston to Knock in a Tobago but because we were VFR the weather turned to IMC West of the Shannon and we could not land - Weston is also a challenge as it’s in close proximity to the Millitary airspace at Casement (Baldonnel) - I know there are certain rules about flying across the Irish Sea on GA aircraft, but doing so is well worth it, as there are lower aircraft movements in Irish airspace and the scenery in the West of Ireland in particular is stunning

Well done, another really enjoyable video. I just started using the Bose A20 headset and it sure does make a difference, particularly when you’re in radio-heavy airspace.

Great stuff, really makes me want to fly a similar trip. If you do a ‘Q+A’ video I’d be interested in seeing the route selection process. I’m assuming you knew you’d get transits through the class C/D and didn’t have an alternative ‘outside CAS’ route as a backup?

Nice trip! You could teach your friend how to change the seat settings to feel more comfortable and avoid a potential headache :))

Great! Question, it's SkyDemon you use for navigation, there's also ForeFlight (US), and it calls out runway number and length of the runway (they call that RAAS, Runway Awareness and Advisory System). Wouldn't it be handy for safety reasons to have this feature on SD too ?

Hi John, What I really like about the Europe series is, you are fully dependant on electronic devices and unlike UK flights, not using maps frequently. Following you for many years on youtube that is very unusual of you :-) On a positive note, I am not feeling guilty when I am map-crawling (or better said SkyDeamon crawling).....

Very much enjoyed your European peregrinations. Super job! VFR flight in Europe might be easier than U.K. but both are waaay more challenging (and more stressful) than VFR ops in America. IFR ops are in between! Looking forward to your next adventure in your trusty steed. Douglas

Superb Adventures Jon. I have really enjoyed watching this series and I also like the other stuff you do. I have never flown flight levels before, do you need additional training for it or do you just tell ATC and it will be OK?

Looks like great fun, I am building my own aircraft, being at it for eleven years, its a four seat 260 hp taildragger, its called the Bearhawk model A four seat. This thing can fly as slow as 40 mph and up to 155 top of the green line. Vne is 175mph. It carries 300 ltr of avgas with a duration of 9 hr with reserves operating lean of peak. The dream is to tour Europe some day in the near future for a couple of months. At present we are based in South Africa about 5000 miles due south of Switzerland. Getting to Europe from here will be an adventure of its own. Fuel is very scarce in Africa and when you get, its extremely expensive, we will have to carry some extra fuel in a two extra tanks in the cargo pod below, each taking 25 ltrs giving me 350 ltrs total fuel with an estimated distance of 1700miles or almost eleven hrs of flight time. We will only need to buy expensive fuel twice, the next fuel stop will be in Europe, all worked out on paper, we know the reality can come up with delays and diversions, wind and more, that can change everything. Just thought you would find it interesting. Enjoying your videos, have fun.

One quick question on this final video, at 2:21 and 4:30 you referred to the aircraft as a P28A and not PA28, was that deliberate due to foreign ATC or a brain moment? Two words... ‘Sanyo Eneloop’. Those batteries are like magic for ANR headsets (and rechargeable, so it’ll save you a small fortune). Been using them in my Lightspeed Zulu for the past couple if years now and they’ve never failed me. Anyway! Epic series Jon, I would absolutely *love* to do something like that.
