I feel a lot of fans glossed over Exai only a few times, it's an album that takes a few more listens than an Autechre work typically does; but oh boy does it pay off, it's easily my favourite album of theirs

fuck. from 4:10 to end is sooo groovy. so purely evocative.. so tight. absolutely evolved effects chains. the bass growling its way out of the murk. the high freqs from the shifting sample rate distortion taunting me like a DMT bird

I think Autechre should be the judge on what is Autechre and what isn't! Exai sounds like a return to form to me

this might be becoming my favorite autechre record. The bass that kicks in at 1:55 , oh my god.

AE just keep getting better and better for me. I'm truly thankful. It really doesn't bother me what other people think, but i can see how that comment would piss u off :)

It's funny that Exai imo is one of ae's more accessible records to date.

(sorry for bad english) I HAD the same problem. I didn't like the Gantz Graf or Confield. But I liked earlier works, Incunabula and Amber. Start from the beginning, then, add to your personal "have" playlist another 2-3 tracks. This music even affects your personality. I did change massively, when I heard Pen Expers, which is for me, the best, incredibly strong, tear tearing 7 minutes ever. Exai, lacks a bit of that "feelings and progression" that Confield, Draft, Untilted and Oversteps had.

This sounds a bit like 'old' Autechre to me. There's more a emphasis on sharp rhythms, like much of the earlier stuff.

If you haven't you should check out their early albums as you may have an easier time getting into them.

Is it just me, or does the main beat sound like LCC from Untilted just slowed down a bit?
